Wow, the second photo (in default size) looked like monster truck tyres that were almost bogged. When I enlarged it I saw the true tyres with a great swirl effect. Great shot. Hopefully it was not digitally enhanced

Hey nicjak, how do those recovery tracks go? Are they the cheap ones off ebay?

Re: WK2 Offroad

Perfect mate $88 delivered in a bag. I only wanted them for the sand. Fitted them up with traxraks and maxtrax pins.

Re: WK2 Offroad

Nice. How do you think they rate on the sand versus the stock tyres?

Re: WK2 Offroad

Love them mate i went from kumhos to these due to going 10" wide. Still have the smaller kumhos for sale. Any 20" or even an 18" is an extra challenge in sand due to the lower profile. 16" as we know is perfect.

Re: WK2 Offroad

The TRED 1100mm recovery tracks fit perfectly behind the back seat in their bag if anyone is considering ones small enough so you don't need to deal with roof racking them.

The TRED 800mm fit length ways in the boot too, lifetime replacement + buy on a supercheap 20% off sale and they are very reasonably priced.

I've been onto the sand with the 20's and the 18's in the Jeep GC, played with tyre pressure on both, your regular stockton sand (even the 'soft' stuff) is fine with 20's on the right pressure, but proper ball soft sand like Blacksmiths or just about anywhere in WA, i'd much much rather the 18's, makes a huge difference.

Re: WK2 Offroad

I've done plenty of driving on the qld sand islands (Fraser, Moreton, etc) on the stock 20's. I usually run between 17-20 psi, and have been quite impressed on performance on some of the more notorious sections of sand... I try to avoid lower pressures than that so I don't have to carry a compressor (they do feel delicate at lower pressure)

Standard Limited rims and original Kumhos, ran them at ~16 psi up to 20 on the sand. All good for the regular punter.
