What lift setup and tyre size do you have on your WK2?

I am also keen for any Brisbane recommendations for a lift kit for our WK2.

We have the chief bash plate and front recovery hook fitted (wheels are stock) but a trip to Moreton Island recently found some very rocky trails at the northern end of the island where we were getting 10ks of large rocks in the middle of the trail that were scraping all the way from the bash plate to the underbody and beyond.

I figure a lift kit would alleviate this issue. But as I am new to researching this topic, I would like to get feedback on things like 1" or 2" kit, and get it done by dealer or private company. I am leaning towards the latter.

We are not hardcore 4wd peeps and really only do beach driving, Fraser, Moreton, Bribie, Teewah etc. But as much as we don't mind scraping the sand in the ruts, the rocky trails do scare me that some damage is being done.

Thanks in advance. I will keep doing research in the mean time.

Matt

Matt, I do the same sort of off-roading, I have the Murchison lift, when I got mine there wasn't a lot of options, now you have Murchison, dobinsons, ARB just to name some options. I also run a bigger tyre which helps when u are letting some are out and gives me another inch in height.

Re: WK2 Offroad

Thanks Hutch. I looked at the Murchison and they appear good quality parts.

The website only quotes supply. Any recommendations on installation mobs. Or is it just any tyre and suspension place?

Cheers,

Matt

Re: WK2 Offroad

Yeah, Murchisons are a safe bet. They have done quite a few of these and know what they are doing.

Re: WK2 Offroad

Just a heads up for anyone doing deep water crossings (especially if it's through brackish water) that you maybe taking water on board through the rear fresh air exhaust vents.
I took my rear bumper off yesterday and noticed my vents were caked in dust including between the flaps so they wouldn't have been sealing too well against outside positive pressure.
I took them out and sure enough I could still see some moisture on the passengers side and could see the water mark on the drivers side where the water had been up to.

Along the lines of what Wadeaus has just posted.

Check the rubber bungs that are at the base of the battery compartment. One went missing on mine and I had water in around the battery. 5 mins stopped in water would have had the floor flooded.

Just look underneath the driver's seat. Replacements can be bought at Clark Rubber for about $2.
