Re: WK2 - remote start down under.

Thanks to Sherif's new thread, Remote start should now be availbe for Aus GC built after 15th Jul3 2013.

Sherif's thread:
Liftgate release button missing - new key fob

Mopar site with item: Remote Start, Same as Production

The one thing I can't see is confirmation of export RHD vehicles, although Sherif is in Dubai, they are LHD.

Description
Fully integrated, OEM tested, Remote Start system allows you to start your vehicle from as far away as 300 feet with just the push of a button. Imagine starting and warming your vehicle from your place of work or home on cold winter days, or cooling the same vehicle on hot summer days. Mopar`s Remote Start system is designed to work with your Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram or Fiat vehicle and interface seamlessly with your vehicle`s electronic, security key. Vehicle must have Sentry Key Theft Deterrent System (Sales Code GXX)

Additional Details: Complete Kit, same as production, for vehicles built after 7/15/2013. Must have Keyless Go (GX4) or Proximity Keyless (GXD)

Disclosure(s): Dealer Scan Tool required for activation.
Remote Start (XBM) can ONLY be installed on vehicles that have the following factory options: -- Automatic Transmission -- Remote Keyless Entry

Just being cynical Snuke, his is a LHD Export not RHD, the steering locks are different.

I hope so but until I see it, I dont believe it.

Re: WK2 - remote start down under.

I was having a chat to my service manager when he was updating the software in the SRT. He showed me where you could enable the remote start with the dealer software. You would need the RS module and FOBIK (key) with the RS button, but it is listed in the software.
If I decide to get remote start, I think I will just get the aftermarket one that you hit the lock button 3 times and it starts for $200.
I do not believe the steering lock has anything to do with the '14's remote start not working.

Thanks Enforcer, if you saw the option in the software then thats good enough for me because it didnt used to be.

I will take the plunge, just the key fob is a worry.

I have an order coming from justforjeeps I will speak to Corey and see what the go is with the FOB.

Thanks again

WK2 - remote start down under.

Hey guys,

I've been in touch with an eBay retailer this morning about a flashlogic module for '14 Grand Cherokees, it's the same make as modules used previously by yoda and others in there pre 2014, but a new model.

The cost is going to be about $250, he will accept a return if the unit doesn't work with shipping costs and 20% restock fee. He seems fairly confident that I will work.

NOW...

The problem is it requires flashing both before and after install and programming, so the retailer will flash before shipping but then how do we flash it here in aus.

Was just wandering if anyone had a flashlogic web link account or a suitable business that we could try use to register an account and buy the cable and maybe do a jeep garage group buy for modules?

I will have to check if the module needs to be flashed the second time in vehicle. If not for a trial, I could get the module, install, ship back to vendor for second flash and check function.

Just putting ideas out there as remote start is well at the top of my wish list with winter starting here and my wife not being inclined to add a trip outside in the cold 10mins before work to start the car up and let it warm up.

Thoughts?

Cheers,
Chris

Re: WK2 - remote start down under.

So... Found out I can probably register with flash logic as a "freelance installer" the cable is approx. $50.

The plot thickens, is there any interest in 2014 remote starts?

Re: WK2 - remote start down under.

I am interested in a remote start using the aftermarket module as I feel (or thought it would) it will be easier to get working. I hope that we do not need to reflash the module, as I do not think our cars differ much to the USA spec ones in regards to the remote start.

Re: WK2 - remote start down under.

Apparently the module required for the 2014 jeeps require flashing twice.

The eBay seller and flashlogic.com install guide confirm this. So it will be flashed by ebay seller pre shipping, install, program key fob and then Re-flash.

The web link cable is available for about $50 and the one seller I've found for the FLRSC7 module has it for about $246 shipped.

I've queried the eBay seller whether he can supply the web link cable or not as he doesn't have it listed.

Possibly a group buy of modules with one cable, and register one account with flash logic and pass the cable around?

I think if I can get my head around pulling the interior apart to access the wiring I'll go ahead with it regardless as the comfort for the missus on chilly sub zero mornings and the longevity of the motor getting warmed up properly will pay dividends ten fold.

Cheers,
Chris

That sounds like an excuse to get remote start. I'm not sure which part of aust your at but I highly doubt it is snowing. You have heated seats and heaters which are relatively instantaneous - unlike the 80s car with the choke.

Re: WK2 - remote start down under.

I live in Inverell NSW, where an average morning temp through winter is minus 3-5 sometimes colder.

Not sure if I'm being over cautious but I doubt running a diesel motor without warmup in these temps is ideal

Not when I can get remote start for $300 and no more worrying about my wife not warming up the jeep... Which she doesn't.

tried changing the wife?
On second thoughts, that will be more expensive.
Alternatively, you could park the Jeep in a garage, and heat the garage.

Or you could just trade in the GC for the new KL and you get the remote start.
