"Smart Remote Start System

A remote vehicle start feature is available on all VF models with automatic transmission.

It seamlessly integrates with anti-theft and passive entry systems.

Smart Remote Start operates via key fob activation from as far away as 100 metres.

It not only starts the vehicle but also activates the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system, which will operate at the ‘last known’ fan and temperature setting.

Remote Start will also activate the heated front seats feature, providing that inside vehicle and outside temperatures are below a certain threshold."

Whilst waiting in the hospital carpark, the huge Chevy ute next to me just started on its own. A few minutes later the owner turned up, hopped in and drove off. Being almost a monster of a car, that thing needed time to warm up in these colder nights. That's when a remote start is handy.

Re: WK2 - remote start down under.

A Mate of mine was showing off his new Holden SV6 over the weekend. Park assist was amazing...but also impressive was his remote start. It obviously cannot be an ADR issue with regard to lack of this feature on ours.

Re: WK2 - remote start down under.

Its definately not an ADR issue - These features been around for so long now, and aftermarket had it out for over 10 years. Afterall, look at those imported used Hiluxes, Turbo Fortuners, etc they had the remote start. They all came in, registered and approved, how could that be if it was ADR issue?

It maybe a Jeep boloks excuse?

Re: WK2 - remote start down under.

It was probably going to cost Jeep Aust a fortune to have the ignition reprogrammed for AU. Probably something in the vicinity of about $1.75, so they decided not to proceed.
Since other manufacturers are introducing it on their models, Jeep Aust may decide to absorb that $1.75, and charge MY15 buyers another $100.00 for it.

Just one of those things they cut out when changing LHD to RHD, all they cared was the overall mass profit and getting the cars out on the belt and onto the ships.

Blood Dual Zone climate control is still catered for LHD setup and that the drivers and rear passenger are in the same zone.

Re: WK2 - remote start down under.

It may be worth asking Jeep AU directly, as we are only making assumptions based on one persons experience with a dealer.

If you are serious about wanting this option, email Jeep and see if they can give you an official answer.

In cold weather your heated seats and steering wheel will turn on as will your ventilated seats in warm weather. You can also leave the HVAC system set as you wish.
