WK2 - remote start down under.

You can skip the RAP as your canbus already does that when you open the doors. It's optional for cars which don't do it. Parking lights (mainly for rear lamp illumination) is optional too unless it's a regulation in UK? Remember your from DRL light up when the engine is running. I think you only want the rears illuminated if you live in fog or snow areas and its manditory. All those optional wires for bonnet pins, lamps, rap won't prevent flashlogic module from working.

OBD is located at the drivers kick panel, exposed connector. Used for onboard diagnostics of course. You can buy some obd2 Bluetooth module of fleebay and read your cars sensors using your smart phone. Not sure what you need this for in your installation, was it just for power?

WK2 - remote start down under.

Imaz

Thanks for the reply. Very helpful

Will be forgetting RAP and parking for now

I have no idea what the 2 OBD pins are used in this particular installation

Pin 14 is CAN (J2284) LOW

Pin 06 is CAN (J2284) high

I've tried this, it doesn't work, so I'll need to connect the ODB pins first and try again

I recall reading a post that those 2 were required for your model. I can't remember exactly what they do. You definitely want it correctly working before you hardwired/tamper your odb port harness during your testing. See if you can use some alligator clips/test pins etc to temporarily hook it up. Don't want to start hacking away on a dead end project.

PS - you did get the PC link cable and also they support software access rite?

I have a feeling all other 14 owners are following this thread closely.

Re: WK2 - remote start down under.

I have picked up a male OBD plug, I'll use that to test the installation.

If it all works as it should, I'll make permanent , or maybe not :-)

I did get the web link access working. I registered as an indi installer.

You must install the weblink plugin before you connect the USB. The FlashLogic site didn't detect the module but the idatalink site did (same login credentials)

Did the first step flash and set up some parameters such as run time, park lights etc....

Can't go to step 2 until I've sorted the ODB port bit.

But here's the thing previous posts suggest getting to the plug on the switch maybe difficult. It wasn't, it was easy didn't even take my coat off :-)

Re: WK2 - remote start down under.

Success

It works just fine. It does need the connection to the OBD port.

I wired the 2 pins to the back of a male OBD connector, it's tiny so I've left as is.

What's that in old money

Jeep Grand Cherokee 2015 Summit (on order) now arrived

Re: WK2 - remote start down under.

UPDATE

Have been testing:-

have the engine warning light refusing to go off after using the remote start.

Unplug the OBD connector and restart and warning light still on.

Plug the OBD connector back in and restart - no warning light

Not sure what's what yet. Will recheck pins with a meter in case a rogue bit of solder is causing problems (it was clean but who knows)

WK2 - remote start down under.

That's good news. I'm sure you've made snuke and other 14 owners happy. I'm not sure about the cel light though - sounds bit odd and risky. Yeh I'm not sure why the flash logic uses those two wires for from odb.

Have you tested shutting down from remote as well? Tested engine run until the idle time reached?

It could it be the dealer Wi-tech uses them to connect, i.e. for initialising/comms to set parameters.

Does the device have an antenna? What is the range for remote start?

Hi yes I can shut down from remote with no issue

I haven't left it for the runtime to expire as I don't like the engine management light being on (unsupervised as it were)

Re: WK2 - remote start down under.

UPDATE - engine management light

Can't join the FlashLogic or Idatalink forums as they only support North American Market ( well f*** me that's useful)

So I called FlashLogic Tech Support who advise that it maybe caused because they don't monitor the glow plugs on the diesel model.

(Maybe the cause.....)

So I looked at the module I have and it is used with the Dodge Ram diesel and monitors the glow plugs. It is exactly the same wiring as the GC too

Nope several firmware flashes of the module later and it's still the same.

So..... I'm not sure it's that. I need to create the engine management light when I am at the dealer so they can diagnose what's causing it. Then we'll know.

However, it still works :-)
