WK2 Service Manual

Before I order in the Service CD from TechAuthority in the US, I thought I'd grab a copy of the Haynes Manual.. Not a big fan of their books but for $33 delivered I thought it would not hurt to have a copy on the shelf..
As I thought, the book is very generic, but does have a few good tips in regard to removing trim..
Will be interesting to see what's on the CD..

Re: WK2 Service Manual

Weird that it covers over 2 complete models from 2005 until 2014. Basically means 1/2 the book is useless.

You do realise that all of that info can be downloaded from the internet in PDF format ?
Check out this link for a heap of info

Re: WK2 Service Manual

Yes agree, most of the info I will ever need I can get here, or WK2Jeeps via pdf. But being a little old fashion, I like to have a couple of books on the shelf if I can get them. For $33 I thought may as well see what it's like..

I used to buy Haynes or Chilton's manuals with each car years ago but I stopped doing it when cars became more complicated because as you point out they are just too generic anymore and I will add they are often wrong. You will get a lot better use from the service CD, I bought it and has been useful. The search feature is nice on the CD but I do miss having a hard copy, which usually ends up with me just printing the needed pages for a job.

Re: WK2 Service Manual

I printed the service manual for my 2006 Charger and it was almost 700 pages. There is no way they can get all that info in a book easy enough and cheap enough for people to buy and reference. Cars are too complicated now. The only thing I could see that being good for is general maint. stuff

Too many mods to list for each, so let's just say a lot was done over the years.

Where did you get it from? I found one for the Diesel WK2 on techAuthority for $135. I'm wondering if there are other sources, and if multiple sources are there differences in their accuracy? Also, where can one get the official Jeep service manual?

The official Jeep manual is from techauthority, back in '06 the service manual for the LX was a .pdf file. The newer manuals are searchable and more interactive.
If I were to buy a manual, I'd get it from techauthority.
I've heard of a group of people pitching in to buy a copy and then "passing" it around as other need it.

Any Aussies want to form a library ;-). I'm in the US in late August and might pick one up as I do my own services.

I'll have a MY15 Jeep Grand Cherokee manual and would be happy to pay in advance if you like.

Anzac
Yes the original quote from the web page was $130USD.
So I emailed a friend in the US and have had the CD sent to him in California for $10USD..
He is resending just through snail mail.. I'll buy him a beer next time we catch up...
