The guy from Airflow called me back. They have had ones in development for some time for the WK2 and JK. They hope to get it out next year. They differentiate themselves from other manufacturers in that they won't release a product until they can demonstrate no detrimental effects on the performance of the vehicle, thus the humungous air scoop. In my email I made the somewhat disparaging remark that it looked like it could suck up a low flying duck. The large parabolic air scoop is intended to make up for losses elsewhere in the ducting. Their main problem with the WK2s is ducting through the complex monocoque bodywork with minimal losses. I pointed out the need to have something in keeping with the aesthetics of the vehicle. He assured me the new snorkel would look prettier. I'm an Engineer myself and from what he said and his claim to be doing a masters in aeronautical engineering, I'm confident he knows his fluid mechanics. However, all a snorkel really has to do is keep the water out. Force fed clean, cold air is good but not if it causes added drag and is ugly.

Re: WK2 Snorkel

I wonder if there is a bluetooth or wifi solution for a snorkle?

Just joking.

anyone else think that a design like this from TJM would look better than your standard snorkle?

Re: WK2 Snorkel

I'd say it will be a LONG time though, considering they had no plans of a bullbar even last i heard.
I must say I am VERY disappointed with aftermarket guys, considering the WK2 is so popular here, you only have to be on the road for a short time to see quite a few.
Sure, they might still be considered somewhat of a 'softroader' by them due to the relatively low clearence w/o quadralift but they are certainly starting to prove themselves!
Oh well, only time will tell... lets see who steps up to the plate, so far it's mainly been the small companies

Re: WK2 Snorkel

well, i got a reply from ARB....
pretty much the same stock standard one as in the Bullbar thread
At least its on their list, sort of

Thank you for your enquiry to ARB and your interest in our products.

Over the last 18 months ARB have experiencing an unprecedented busy period in regards to development. In that period many new and updated vehicles have been released that have required complete developments of products.

We are starting to catch up on the product development demand now and as a result are able to focus attention onto some vehicles we have been wanting to start on for some time.

Development of a winch compatible bar for the current Grand Cherokee has a high priority. I hope that will commence this sometime in the next couple of months.

Until development is underway and all the challenges are know, it is not possible to provide an in store ETA.

The best I can offer at this time is an apology for it taking us this long to start the project and the reassurance that ARB are committed to providing a product to our Jeep Grand Cherokee customers.

Kind regards.

It's all about numbers isn't it. They simply look up vehicle stats and target those with the biggest numbers on the road. While Toyota and Nissan keep bringing out new models, they may never get around to WK2s.

Re: WK2 Snorkel

Unfortunately, I think you're right. I mean we could try start a campaign or crusade if you like towards the major players, but I don't think even that will help much...

The numbers are what makes the lack of accessories really suck
The JGC has been and still is in the top 3 best selling 4x4 wagon in Aus for the past 2 years, and in the top 10 of all 4x4 sales in Aus for the past 2 years
And yet ARB and TJM etc make bulbar, snorkels etc for models that sell way less and where released after the JGC
Shame shame shame ARB TJM
