Hi all
Have just returned home from Dromana in victoria where airflow vector have had a good look at the wk2 grand cherokee . Michael from airflow says they can make a snorkel work for this vehicle, but now need genuine expression of interest before they will tool up to make it. Please contact them via email if you are serious about a snorkel for your grand.. info@airflowvector.com . They will have some more information on their web site and facebook with in the next week.
thanks for your time

Looks like the air box is at the front left corner for both petrols and the diesel
V8

V6

CRD

Looking in the front left corner of my CRD there doesn't seem to be much room behind the headlight to get an intake hose through the front left guard.

The CRD also has an electrical box just behind the air box that the petrols don't have (could also be a 2012 vs 2011 build difference). Front RHS is also a little different between the petrol and diesel

Looking in the engine bay and at the 3.6L V6 image it might be possible to come through the LH guard into the area at the bottom left of the windscreen and then come over the top of the shock tower. The petrols could possibly keep an airbox in the same place, but it would need to be redesigned (sort of turned upside down). The CRD would probably have to get rid of the air box, but would need decent filtering on the snorkel.

If you could get rid of the air box then you might be able to get a smallish 2nd battery under the bonnet.

The the inside of the spare tire rim  It's closer to the main battery too. The Oddysey PC2150 fits inside the OEM "full size" spare tire on the 18" rim. Just need to fab a mount.

BobT what more butchering will the WK2 need than any other 4x4?, every vehicle that a snorkel is available needs holes cut in body work.
We are yet to see the snorkel design, path or cost for the WK2.
Airflow have said they can fit a snorkel to the WK2 with out cutting through the sub frame and still gain a 10-15% improvement in performance. If you don't need or want a snorkel that's fine!, but please don't scare others with words like "butchering" when there is no evidence the WK2 snorkel will require any more body modification than other current 4x4 models,
We've all been complaining about no after market accessories for the WK2, now here is a company that is willing to make a snorkel for the WK2, so let's get behind them!.
If you don't want or need one that's fine, but please don't frighten others off needlessly

When I spoke with Michael from airflow his comment was they would not be going through the monocoque chassis as this created another set of problems so they have found a route that has a couple more bends in it than standard but still gives a small increase in air to the system.

Thanks again for your time .

please the more enquiries airflow get the more chance we have of something being produced.

I'd be happy as long as it doesn't reduce airflow. Any increase is a bonus.

This was on AJOR,
Saw the main man at Airflow Snorkels this morning. Basically, they require orders of 150+ prior to making the tooling. The tooling alone is around $25K.BTW ; they are working on a replacement air filter to complement the snorkel. Cheers, Craig.

So if your interested, send them an email, we need every one we can get to make this happen

Hi guys, Airflow have received 40 requests for snorkels so far, it's a good start but we need to get 150 so keep them coming, we need to support manufactures who are willing to make accessories for the WK2, so send them an email or contact them on face book. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Gidday again

this is just in from Michael at airflow

I have posted that we have started making the kit on Face book.
We have had about 40 responses.

So we have started making the snorkel kit. Should have a shape shortly.
I am doing some performance simulations to see what is possible at the moment
Will talk to you and a couple of other what it will look like soon.
This will cover the diesel.
We will need to check the petrol version to see if needs a different kit?

We are trying to get the web site fixed . Some nice person has hacked into the site.

Keep in contact
Please put this on to the site you are posting on please.

Kind regards Michael

great effort guys sounds like its happening

Any one able to give up their GC for the cause?,

Gidday all,
spoke with Michael from airflow today and he told me the air tests on the snorkel for the wk2 are complete and they are happy with them . A final check on the hardware, making sure it will fit will take place shortly and then tooling will commence for the manufacture.
Thanks for your time

The guys at Murchison products are developing a great looking snorkel for the WK2, saw the prototype on Wednesday. Stuart owns a WK2 himself and is developing good gear for them. I particularly liked a groove/channel set into the vehicle side of the snorkel to allow an electrical cable to be run up it to get power to lights etc mounted on the roof or roof rack. Check out their website Murchison Products AEV QLD Distributor | Jeep aftermarket parts & conversion specialists - Brisbane, Australia he's got photo's of the snorkel prototype on their Facebook page too.
