Re: Worth waiting for a MY14?

Why would you let the dealer tell you what you're getting. I'd tell them you won't buy the 13 and want a 14.

How did you manage to cancel the allocated car. What did you have to say to the dealer to get out of it. I am expecting delivery of CRD limited this Friday. After reading about my14, I too want to cancel but I am sure the dealer is going to ask for 3 percent of the price and I will lose my 1k deposit. How can I get out of this without any loss. Any ideas
?

If the dealer was going to place that type of penalty on you doing that you should just walk down the road and buy a MY14 from someone else.... or they should accept your change of mind and they can easily sell the MY13 CRD to someone else that wants it now. Obviously they would be in their rights to adjust the price for any change on the MY14 RRP.

Just my 2c.

I just said that I wanted to wait, and he advised me that he may not be able to hold the previous price. Bear in mind the last time I had spoken to him he was telling me that I would have to wait till March anyway and the allocated car hasnt even been made yet.

Just pose the question and see what they say, they may be within their rights to sting you but if they can sell the other car immediately and still sell you your car on order they should have no reason to play hard ball.

Re: Worth waiting for a MY14?

Check your local consumer laws. In some places they can only charge you if they lose money on selling the car. Or, even if they sell it for the same or more they might be able to charge a processing fee. It's best if you know where you stand before you confront them.

If the law does provide some protection for you, and you calmly discuss them with the dealer, things should work out.

Good Luck!

Long wait.
I ordered in Feb and was told about end of May and after several extensions of time now told late Sept early Nov 2013?
I wonder is there a time limit that you can walk away from a deal?
Over 4 months late in delivery already and no guarantee it will come then.
I'm just about over the whole affair now should have bought another brand, after this example of Jeep performance what is the warranty and service going to be like?

Re: Worth waiting for a MY14?

Take a look at your contract.
I am not a lawyer, but I would assume you are within your rights to cancel the order. It is obvious that when you made the deal, the car was not ordered by the dealership. Otherwise, you could expect a maximum of 3 months delivery.
I suggest you visit the dealership and take a letter with you to hand to them stating you believe they have failed to deliver the car you ordered and that you wish a full refund.
Then, if you still want a Jeep, phone around to other dealers and as long as your order is basically standard, I would think you could be in a car within weeks.
If you have some exotic order, then you may need to wait.

Re: Worth waiting for a MY14?

Thank you and you are correct.
WE ordered a Overlander petrol version Diesel here is more expensive than premium.
I read the contract and the final delivery date was the 1/7/2013 it states that I may rescind the contract in writing 30 days after that date if the vehicle is not delivered.
I was told by the dealer that diesel models should be delivered in Aus very shortly and petrol month after?
Still really have never been told exactly what we are getting just hints about the US models but I believe because we are so special here in Aus we can't have all the stuff they get?
Thanks again

Your dealer is an idiot, there are many Petrol and CRD models already being driven by members on this forum in Australia.

I am not sure what stuff you are referring to, but aside from the Summit model and some of the head unit options, we get most things.

They do not offer all the options as it would be a nightmare to have the 6 models and many options being offered in the USA being offered here. Like most OS car makers, the offer packs and model lines without all the choices.

I would also call up a few dealers that are highly rated on this forum and see when they can get you a car. Your dealer seems like an waste of space.

Re: Worth waiting for a MY14?

Wow this dug up an old thread.

FYI after hounding my dealer around Mid January (2014 Detroit Launch) only to be told there was no information available for the Australian launch I left it for a couple of months before hounding them again in March. When there was still now information regarding pricing I agreed to leave them alone on the proviso that as soon as information was available they would be in contact so that I could get my car ordered.

Unfortunately that never happened so a few weeks ago after seeing that there were 2014's being driven around the streets of Aus I called up the dealer to find out what the go was. After an apology I was told that if I wanted my interior preference (indigo blue/brown) I would have to wait till November but if I would settle for black then I could have it by the end of August.

Not the ideal scenario by any stretch of the imagination but at least I will hopefully have a car next month.
