I just completed an engine swap in a 2002 Jeep 4.7 HO Vin J With a Remanufactured Crate engine. Previous Engine ate a valve and was destroyed. I am using the same ECM and Harness from the previous engine. The engine cranks but will not start. I turn the ignition key and the Sentry Key light cycles turns off then turns back on. My Scanner is throwing no codes nor shows any data on it other that TPS % And RPM which does not change when engine is cranked. I Think it has something to do with the Sentry Key system. I am getting no fuel nor spark and I do not here the pump come on. I did a really clean swap minus I cant quite remember where the ground straps towards the rear of the engine go but they are attached to the engine. Any ideas?

I doubt this is related to the sentry key, the sentry key system actually lets the vehicle start run drive etc for 3 seconds when there is a fault with the system. The sentry system is not designed to keep the vehicle from starting, only keep it from running.

Look elsewhere for your problem.

First the easy part, the ground straps are mounted underneath both aft ignition coil nuts ( #7 and #8).
Now the difficult part: did you double check that all connectors are connected right and that no fuses are blown?
The problem could be sentry key related, however normally the engine would start and shut down after 2 sec. If you could use a DRBIII scanner, you could find any Sentry Key system faults.
You are sure that both the old and new engine are exactly the same?

Well I hope they are the same engine. I have checked all of the connections and the grounds on the rear or the engine. I have the grounds in the proper locations and I have checked all of the connections that could cause a condition like this. Crank angle sensor cam sensor ect. I do not hear the fuel pump kicking on in the tank and I still do not have spark. I read that there are some engines with a crank ring with 30 and some have 32. Is there a way I can check this engine without pulling it and removing the pan? I purchased the engine from a rebuilder in Spokane WA and told them what year I needed. I did notice that the block on the right rear had a oil journal on the engine I installed and it came with a cover for it if it wasn't needed other than that the engines looked identical. If the pickup on the engine was a 30 instead of a 32 wouldnt I have some misfire going on? Engine spins smooth just won't fire. On my scanner I am getting no codes and I am also getting no live data but tps and rpm. Rpm does not register when I crank with key either

Well it's been awhile but I wonder what happened with this case. I didn't change the motor but was dealing with the same condition that started intermittently and got worse to the point that it won't crank over. It turns over jumping the relay but bypassing asd doesn't return the spark or fuel.
