Angry 99 WJ Will idle but die when given gas...

All of the sudden my WJ 4.0 started knocking pretty bad. When I start it, it will idle, sometimes rough sometimes ok, all still with the knocking.

If I give it any gas, it starts to miss, and wants to die.

I was getting a P0340 code, so i changed the Cam Position Sensor, not the synchronizer, just the sensor.

No more P0340, but still doing the same as above, only now getting P0351 and P0352 codes.

I have a youtube vid of the noise @

Re: 99 WJ Will idle but die when given gas...

That knocking doesnt sound good, Its hard to tell on the video, but to me it sounds like a bottom end speed knock not a slower valvetrain clatter. Your going to need a motor most likely.

As for your p0351 and p0352 are going to be coil driver faults. I would pull the coil and test for spark... Ultimately I have seen the coil rails go out and have intermittant rough run and misfires. The fact its intermittant it may make it hard to do an accurate spark test. Pull your plug and inspect for wear. You can also use a test light on the coil rail connector for the driver circuits, have someone crank it over and verify that you have a flashing light on the driver circuits... if I get some time later Ill look up a pinout for you so you KNOW what your probing.

Got another coil I'm going to try. I'll let you know how it turns out.
