Difference 16t vs 32 t 4.7 camshaft teeth

anyone know the number of teeth on camshaft on a 32t vs 16t 4.7 engine. And has anyone ever had a 32t engine in a 2000 GC with the vin N for eighth digit?

You need a 16 tooth tone ring on the crankshaft to work with your 2000 electronics

Yeah I know? what I'm asking is are there coresponding notches on camshaft tone and Crankshaft. 16t crankshaft so 16 notched camshaft tone. 32t crankshaft, 32 camshft. So if I pull valve cover and count number of notches I'd know which engine I have. Thanks for the response.

Another question for you. While researching this looked in dodge forum and found a guy that said if you pull off passenger side valve cover and look at cam sproket if stamped NGC you have a 32t crankshaft. Is this true on Jeep manufactured engines as well or am I stuck looking at Crankshaft to find out.

Re: Difference 16t vs 32 t 4.7 camshaft teeth

found a few things out that may be helpful to anyone with same questions. Apparently the tone wheel on passenger side camshaft near sprocket will match the number of teeth on crankshaft. Also another way to tell is that camsproket will have NGC stamped on it if a 32t. Hopefully this will help. Found most of this information on a dodge site and seemed to be fairly reliable.

Look at the pcm. If it has 3 plugs it's JTEC if 2 plugs it's NGC. Pretty easy.

Other then that I guess you have to pull the passenger side valve cover and look at the tone wheel.
