Flowmaster Muffler Series Question!?

So I plan on buying a Flowmaster Muffler, but I can't figure out what the Series numbers mean. Theres Super 40, 50, 60 and such.

The lower the number, the LOUDER?
I want a beastly sound, but not abnoxious sounding.
In between quiet, and loud.

I have a 1999 Grand Cherokee Laredo. Inline 6, 4.0 L.
The outlet needs to be 2.25 I believe.

Not sure which I want or what are the differences.
Super 40 Series 2.25" C/O
40 Series Delta Flow 2.25" C/O

50 Series Delta Flow 2.25" C/O
50 Series SUV / Perf. 2.25" C/O

Help please?

Re: Flowmaster Muffler Series Question!?

I believe the lower the number, the smaller and louder it is going to be. I would throw on a 50 series if I were you. Be aware that Flowmasters are notorious for drone. If drone is not for you, then do not get it.

Re: Flowmaster Muffler Series Question!?

Dont do a flowmaster, Get a magnaflow or borla. The drone will give you a headache. Especially on the highway.

Re: Flowmaster Muffler Series Question!?

I had a 50 series on my '93 ZJ with the 4.0. No drone at all and it made it sound really good.

Re: Flowmaster Muffler Series Question!?

If you love drone and loudness like I do, install what I installed. A Dynomax Bullet Series muffler and have the reso chopped off.

Re: Flowmaster Muffler Series Question!?

I have a dynomax on mine and it give a great low tone and acceleration note. Although i do get a drone at highway speeds, 55-60mph, that i wish wasn't there. I got used to it.

Re: Flowmaster Muffler Series Question!?

I have a Super 40 on my H.O WJ's V8...I love it..but it is loud....

I'd say go for a 50 SUV or Delta Flow since you want in between Andy...
