Re: help...2001 jeep grand cherokee

replaced the cps and still no luck. rough idle is still there. it will idle fine and then drop down to like 500 rpm's then shoot up to 1,500 rpm's and then settle back at about 700 rpm's. i don't know what else to do.

Re: help...2001 jeep grand cherokee

Have you considered maybe taking it to your local Jeep Garage and having a diagnosis done?

Re: help...2001 jeep grand cherokee

Unstable idle rpm is most often caused by a failing TPS sensor.

Re: help...2001 jeep grand cherokee

It will also be worth replacing the camshaft pos sensor as well. Also there is an 'o' ring at the fuel tank that deteriates away. This causes a loss of rail pressure and can chase a rough idle or even stalling.
