Hi, In the process of putting a Hemi in my WJ - 2001 4.7 originally. It is in, mounts built, exhaust hooked up etc. Bolted to the 545RFE just fine, used the 4.7 flex plate and took a collar out of the Hemi crank that was for the 8 speed I believe. The article in wjjeeps.com everyone refers to is totally wrong. It fits perfectly.
Question is has anybody done this swap and if so what did you use for the engine management system? There are a bunch of options - hotwire said they had no problem making a harness for a late model computer to go right in - for $1800 + computers. Can use the Holley system with separate trans controller, FAST has some stuff. Was hoping to just update to NGC from early RAM but that appears to be a dead end in tuning. The megasquirt gold plugs right in to everything on the engine and can allegedly control the VVT if I want to figure it out.
I am using the Eagle generation Hemi - 2014 - so would like to control the VVT and MDS but can lock them out if needed. Would like to keep though so I get all 395 HP + 25mpg it can do.
Any input on the controller?
Plan on putting some pictures together of what I have already done if anyone is interested. Thanks!
