Angry Idle Problem?

Hey guys...i had this going on for a while am im not sure if its a problem or normal. So when i start my jeep (2002 WJ Limited) it goes to 1200 rpm then goes down to 700 and stays there like normal. After a few mins of driving it goes down to about 500 or 400 RPM when im stopped at a red light. Is this normal or do i have a problem? Thanks for any help!

Re: Idle Problem?

Maybe cleaning your IDC (Idle Air Control) or Throttle Body would help.

I also found this:

High idle is being caused by dirt or air leak at the IAC (Idle Air Control); you have to extract the IAC motor and clean with some carb cleaner, also verify the O-ring; somentimes is in bad condition or damaged. Replace the O-ring.

Re: Idle Problem?

A failing throttle position sensor will cause idle concerns... not to mention its like WHOA common and super easy to replace

Re: Idle Problem?

Try giving the IAC plunger a clean with TB cleaner, whilst your at it clean the butterfly and bore on the TB too.

You'll probably notice better throttle response too but the 400 idle should go when done. When I changed my TB I was really shocked at the state of the IAC for having just 48k. Backside of the TB wasn't much better either.

Atleast you can give that ago and it's good maintance before buying a new TPS.
