Question K & N 57/77 Cold Air Intake Filter Question

1) The conic filter on the 57 and 77 series, are they the same dimensions? If so do you know the size of the filter?

2) Can I rip off the filter and replace it with a larger filter from K & N if I want? I take it the bigger the filter the more allowed in?

Re: K & N 57/77 Cold Air Intake Filter Question

1) Yes they are the same...what dimensions do you want exactly and I'll get them tonight sometime
2) Yes you can, someone on here has put a bigger filter on...I don't know that I buy the concept. I don't think the filter that comes with the kit is restricting the engine's demand for air at all, but I don't have anything to substantiate that claim with. At some point it gets ridiculous. It's like putting a bigger head on the end of your shop-vac.

Re: K & N 57/77 Cold Air Intake Filter Question

Dimensions:

Lenth: 8"
Inlet Diameter: 3.5"
Filter Cap Diameter: 4"
Base Diameter: 5.5"

I thought about upgrading mine to a bigger filter since I damaged mine, but to be honest, it would just look silly and have no benefit to performance. So just replaced it like for like.

Note, the 77 series is actually metal and does heat soak more than the plastic. I'm looking to change to the plastic tube and get it painted when engine mods come...
