The best way to get the most out of your tank of gas is to make sure your ride is well-maintained, that your tires are inflated properly, and that you use cruise control on those longer highway trips. Other than that, like Straty said, it's all about driving habits.
been looking at the amsoil pre filter sicne i am going to order there 9 inch filter that make the K&N one look small.

i just noticed that your K&N tube looks a bit different them mine and most i see on WJ. i have the 57 series FIPK and theirs a sticker on the tube looks like this
had another that i sold that look the same too.
anything different about your set up or is it new version?

Re: K & N Cold Air Intake Question?

Must just be a newer version...they look the same to me other than yours has the color K&N logo printed on and mine has it stamped. I purchased mine last June.

Re: K & N Cold Air Intake Question?

I may be selling mine here soon I bought like 5 years ago. I currently have the stock box back on. It sounds awsome but I see better gas milage with out it. The filter is alittle rough but still works.

Re: K & N Cold Air Intake Question?

You'll get better gas mileage because your wallet will be so much lighter.
I've used K&N filters a lot and have had good experience (really wakes up a fullsize Chevy with a wimpy six-cylinder), but I have a hard time justifying the price tag on the cold air intake. I checked somewhere (Autozone???) and it says you get an avg +6 HP on the 4.0 (which I have) and +11 for the 8 cylinder (this is what I remember, and I was just checking them out a few weeks ago, so don't yell if my numbers are off by 1 or 2 HP). So I really can't justify the price vs. those numbers. For that I am really thinking about just getting a $50 drop in K&N. That's my 2 cents anyway.

Re: K & N Cold Air Intake Question?

$230....that's what I paid for mine. It's expensive, there is no question. Take the $50 you were going to spend on a drop in and you're down to $180. Say your 11hp improvement on the V8 is correct....that's a little over $16 per horsepower for me. That's not too bad in my opinion. I see people spend more than $230 on subwoofers, tattoos, shoes...I guess it's just all about what you're into.

Re: K & N Cold Air Intake Question?

I've tried a CAI and just a drop in filter. The drop in worked just as good as the CAI. Save your money for $5 a gallon gas prices this summer.
