Mine just has MARKS but on the 99-01 jeep laredo's had #"S on the gauge 0=Low..40=1/2...80=High so i guess the 02-04 Gauge is the same but without numbers!?

Re: Oil Pressure??

My white gauged 02 HO has no # just lines.
At running temperature idling the oil gauge seats just above 1/2 line mark, when revs are up it's gets as high as 3/4 mark

Re: Oil Pressure??

My 02 4.7ho limited has numbers on the gauge. It usually sits just above half (40psi) when warm and up to 3/4 (60psi) when revved

Re: Oil Pressure??

I know that the 2004 WJ's don't show actual pressure anymore, it doesn't have a pressure sensor, but a low pressure switch. As soon as the pressure rises above a certain minimum, the pressure indicator goes to a fixed value. Don't know when they started with this modification. You can recognize the pressure switch version at the single wire which goes to the switch. (the casing is the ground).
The jeep manual mentiones the oil pressure @ 3000 rpm at 25-110 PSI.

The Jeep manual's varying pressures @3000 are
If I were to have 25psi @3000rpm I would be very concerned.

My '04 WJ I6 "oil pressure" gauge sits at approximately 42#'s no matter if it is at idle or running at freeway speeds. Should I be concerned?

Re: Oil Pressure??

Have a look at the connector of the oil pressure sensor/switch. If it only has one wire, you have a pressure switch and it will allways show the same pressure, as long as its not too low.
