I also drive with my foot to the floor a lot and have a short commute. And thats on winter gas and bad O2 sensors, I just replaced the sensors and if I drive nice I can get 15 mpg around town. The problem is keeping my foot steady.

How much of an MPG gain could you expect to achieve with new O2 sensors?

All depends on how bad the old ones are. Mine were not throwing any codes, but I used my OBDII tool and logged the sensor outputs and they seemed slow. I replaced them and haven't logged the data yet but last road trip I got 19 mpg, but last week on my way up to Michigan I got 20 mpg. Should get better when we go off winter gas. If you have some time read this article O2 Sensors it explains just about everything on O2 sensor operation. If you are looking for new ones the WJ used Denso sensors, not NTK which the WK used.

Glad you aren't confused any more, I just reread my post and it wasn't as clear as I originally thought. I dont think I've seen less than 14 in the summer and that was a tank of towing and hauling some stuff around helping a friend move.

lol thanks for clearing that up

I'm supposed to be helping my girlfriend and her parents move in April, so ill be in the same boat! lol ill be easy on the pedal though, until i get my intake(K&N)... as long as it doesnt whistle it will be okay...

also, most of my driving is highway. its about a 60/40 or 70/30 split. so hopefully i can average around... im guessing 17?

Re: Performance chips??

I'd say you should be able to average 17 with a majority of highway driving. Constant speed is the biggest key to fuel economy.

Re: Performance chips??

Bsmith, the Superchips is really meant for stock vehicles, or stock with intake, muffler, etc. Not sure what other performance mods are done, but with slightly more displacement, a tune meant for a stock truck may or may not cut it.

Ryan is 100% here, if you have more than some of the basic bolt on mods you would want to send a data log to someone like Ryan to make a custom tune to get the best performance.

Ryan, i didnt even consider that. all the mods that are done at the moment, is the engine is bored .020 over, and i have the super turbo cat back exhaust. i plan on a k&n intake also.

im really looking hard for better fuel economy. i also plan on lifting and running 265/75/16's, which are about 32 inches, so i can only assume my economy will drop.

Seems kind of counterproductive to me to want better mileage yet go throw on a set of 32's and lift in the wake of 4 and 5 dollar/gal gas. The WJ gearing as it is, is a bit tall even with stock tires.
