if at all possible, i would like better mileage. who wouldnt right? if not possible, oh well. ill deal with it. just gotta start working overtime
i might just do 31's, since its not much bigger than the 245/65's i have now

Re: Performance chips??

i guess that was a little confusing, im not looking for BETTER mileage with bigger tires, im just looking to see my options if i can get it back to stock with bigger tires. if that made more sense.

Re: Performance chips??

Its possible, but if you're going for looks, IMHO throw on a set of wheels and tires, and simply level it. If you intend to wheel it i would go no bigger than 31s, the Dana 35 is weak and will break with alot of tire on it.

Re: Performance chips??

I've still got some time before it gets lifted, i may start off with a BB lift. and 31's. or hell maybe just level it like you said. we'll have to see when that time comes.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Re: Performance chips??

Can someone shed some light on the Superchips, I was thinking of purchasing one for the Towing Tune, I pull a 21ft Renken and I have to say the 4.7 and 3.73 gears do not like it.

Hoping someone could tell me if the Superchip helps towing wise or should I look elsewhere like gears??

Thanks All

For street performance, I am super happy with the 87octane tune from superchips. I don't get to tow anything that weighs more than a few hundred pounds very often, so I have yet to try the towing tune. I have heard that the towing tune requires 91 octane or better gas though, which makes sense. It also holds the shifts a little longer to take some strain off the transmission.

I guess when the extra $$$$ comes in I will have to report back, hate using my baby as a Guinea pig, but looks likes everyone is pretty happy with the Superchip so what can it hurt.

Re: Performance chips??

Bringing thread back up. Sorry.... I don't plan on towing with my 2000 4.7 WJ But it may happen once or twice... though i don't have the tow package... SO here is the scoop on my 173k WJ limited. It has a the quadra drive system, rebuilt 4.7 with H.O. cams, K&N CAI, deleted the muffler... "hoping to redo it to Kolak system sometime soon" Recently did the TQ management wire "snip"... Looking to lift it soon 2-4in with the 17in Moab wheels etc etc.. SO far it's running nice BUT i want to do the 2008 4.7 manifold swap and the high flow cat with corresponding Kolak system. What tuner should i be looking at SCT or superchips? What other mods could i do?

Re: Performance chips??

Superchips is really designed for a stock vehicle, or stock with intale etc. With your current mods plus what you have planned, custom tuning via SCT is required.

Re: Performance chips??

I can say from experience with JetChips that they do alter the way it drives, for the better. When you step on the gas it is quicker to downshift, and it also lags to up shift when you let off the gas. This is nice if you want to punch the gas again. Also from speaking to a JetChips Techie, they say that if you use the extra Hp your gas mileage will go down, i.e. hammering the gas for fun. If you drive normally you should see an increase of about 1 mpg.
