Plugs Anyone?

Getting close to 60,000 on the HO so I figure its about time to change plugs for the first time. I'm not really a Champion fan but if I have to use em again I will. Any good
alternatives out there?

Re: Plugs Anyone?

I use those faithfully in my small engine stuff . I wonder if they
have a platinum plug for the HO motor?
Thanks 206

Re: Plugs Anyone?

Certain motors are pretty picky about plugs. I know my 4.0L Cherokee and TJ were not fans of fancy plugs at all. I used the dealer plugs in my HO...playing it safe.

Re: Plugs Anyone?

As far as I know, the only plug for the HO engine is the 3340 and just like the air filters for the HO, I have a hard time finding them at the auto parts stores.

Here is where I order them: http://www.championsparkplugs.com/re...p?AAIA=1420771

Exclamation Re: Plugs Anyone?

www.wjjeeps.com warns of using any substitute plug for the 4.7HO. You may want to read up on that there!

Warns about the 4.7L non HO, and mine runs better with the NGK's than stock.

The only plugs that I have read anywhere about not using in these is the E3's.

Re: Plugs Anyone?

Thanks for the info Vic. Over the years(yeah I got that middle age thing going on too)I've had mixed results with Champion. I just think there's a better plug out there.
I don't know alot about irridiums,platinums,uraniums,etc
cause I never had to use them before but the HO has to have them.I did find this on NGKs website but it lists 2
different plugs one platunum, one irridium and I was wondering which is the right/better plug for the HO?

After reading the NGK website, it does seem that the $12.06 NGK plugs would be a better choice than the $3.00 Champion plugs. (more platinum content) which would/should result in longer life.

As you probably know, changing the plugs is kind of a pain, and anything that will prolong the interval I am all for. I change them at 50k and that works out to about once a year.

Years ago when they first came out with the iridium plugs, I tried a set in my 2000 WJ 4.7, I don't remember what brand they were, but I don't think they were NGK. Anyway I was not too impressed with the performance and removed them at next change interval.

But since NGK only makes two choices for the HO, and the price is the same, maybe you should try the iridium plugs and see how they do.

Then report back to us and let us know what you think.
