speedo and tach out

k, so I finished the swap. Everything seem to be good, BUT the following...

oil pressure is wonky, runs at 40psi at idle, accel or rev and it drops to nothing. Everything sounds fine, you don't hear any lifters or the valves, but its making me really nervous. THis has been going on about a week, and today, the tach and speedo are out. Is it related??? Any one else have this happen? Did I f-up a ground somewhere???

new oil and filter, new pressure sending unit...

Did you do the instrument self test? If not, with ignition switch in off, press the odometer reset switch and switch the ignition on. Instruments will go to full scale and back to normal, all lights will be tested and odometer digits will count up.

no other gauges out, i have been having an issue with the oil pressure, but as I said, the motor sounds fine when the gauge says 0 pressure. I will be getting a manual oil pressure gauge to test it for sure, probably today, but im not totally convinced its actually low...

k now battery dead, it has to be a ground issue...

yup, dead battery, popped fuses, loose starter wires = ground issue All fixed stupid grounds

Grounds can be a real pain in the ARSE. Good thing you found it so quickly sometimes it can take forever..

yea, i knew it had to be one of the last things I put in, cuz it ran perfect right when i was all done, then it kinda started acting funny, so it was clearly a progressing thing, and thats what it was, ground wire wiggled loose as i drove, i still expect to find a couple more here and there. He did sit for 4 years...
