Re: Starting Irritation and Crank Position Sensor

Check your fuel pump fuse #24 on the power distribution center and # 12 on the junction block. Also remove the fuel cap and listen for fuel pump noise. This will only be for 3 secs after switching ignition to run, when the engine doesn´t run.
You could swap your fuel pump relay with the wiper on/off relay, which is adjacent to it. When there is noise, but no pressure, i would start changing the filter/regulator first. If that doesn´t help, most probably the pump is bad.

The fuses checked out fine, but alas, no sound from the fuel pump. RIP, I guess ...

Is there after market pumps worth checking out, or should I rather stay with the Mopar/dealers supplied parts ?

Re: Starting Irritation and Crank Position Sensor

Did you check your fuel pump relay as well?

Re: Starting Irritation and Crank Position Sensor

Yes I did. I can hear it clicking, but I swapped it out with the wiper relay also, no difference ...

Re: Starting Irritation and Crank Position Sensor

Yeh, when the wiring and ground are ok, then only your fuelpump is left over. You have to drop the tank to get access to the tank unit. When i'm not wrong, MOPAR only sells the complete tank unit and not the pump itself. I did take the tank unit apart once and when you do it carefully, its not too bad to do. When i'm not wrong its using a Denso fuelpump, but i will see if i can find the pictures i took. But a Bosch pump would be fine as well.

Re: Starting Irritation and Crank Position Sensor

Just checked the P/N of the fuel pump which is installed in my jeep (European build), and it has a Bosch P/N 0-560-453-431. But i think that other known brands with the same specs would be fine as well.

Re: Starting Irritation and Crank Position Sensor

Right, one fuel pump later, one problem resolved. In fact, I would suggest that the Jeep is better than it has ever been.

Pity that I replaced all those sensors first (Crank-, Cam Position Sensor + Throttle Position Sensor) before doing the fuel pump. Ag well ...

Re: Starting Irritation and Crank Position Sensor

Yeh, changing parts as a way of trouble shooting, can be an expensive excercise.
Good to hear that the problem is fixed at least.
