Re: WJ cooling swap!

I would definitely recommend going with a brand new clutch that is as close to OEM as possible. When it comes to the fan, im sure you can go to a junkyard and take one off a Jeep if you wanted to and bolt it right on. Otherwise you can pick up the 5 blade at a dealer or carpart.com. Just look around for the best price. The above posted site looks pretty good as well for parts.

Re: WJ cooling swap!

52079984AA is the part number that is referenced from the link that mjl2610 posted. That part number is for a Grand Cherokee and the parts guy at the local Jeep dealership I spoke with said it would fit a 99-05 Grand Cherokee. I am very seriously thinking of doing this conversion myself before I leave out in July with the camper to go North for a couple of weeks. A couple of years ago, my electric fan decided to quit on me in the middle lane of I-81 sitting in traffic in Harrisburg, PA. So I do not want to repeat that experience!

Re: WJ cooling swap!

The 7 blade fan that I want is discontinued and I can not find it anywhere local. So much for this idea....

Re: WJ cooling swap!

If anyone can find me a 7 blade fan part number mopar jeep 55037650AA I would appreciate it. Or explain to me why it's discontinued. Or if the 5 blade is somehow better.

Re: WJ cooling swap!

I do not recall which Jeep if any with a viscous clutch fan or direct drive that is/had 7 blades. They have a part number for it so it was either used or stocked at one point. As far as i have seen on many a Jeep, its been a 5 blade setup. And this is even dating back to a buddies 85 Cherokee with a direct drive that is also a 5 blade.

Re: WJ cooling swap!

Every jeep should have a shroud regardless from factory

Re: WJ cooling swap!

I only have a electric fan. This (the thing im looking for) is a 7 blade mechanical fan that posts onto the water pump....http://www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums...d.php?t=496635

I am trying to add this mechanical fan. Some wranglers came with this 7 blade one that i wanted... The 7 blade fan that is part number 55037650AA is from a wrangler it says...but fits the WJ....but is discontinued and can only find at a junk yard maybe...but i cant find one. I guess i'll just have to settle with finding a normal one for 01-04 or whatever grand cherokee's with 5 blades.
