Re: 01Grand finally gets HIDs and projectors!

Regular halos are LED type bulbs, CCFL's are more brighter, kind of like a neon light. Housings come with the lighting installed already. Try carid.com, you'll see 3-4 different styles there. Some get them from e-bay, some get them from sites like carid.com. You only want HID's for low beams, not high beams.

Would you mind elaborating as to why?
Just too bright? Get too hot?
What are my options for high then?

I like this style.Spyder® - Jeep Grand Cherokee 1999-2004 Chrome Halo Projector Headlights with LEDs

They seem to look very similar to what others in this thread have.

Re: 01Grand finally gets HIDs and projectors!

It's a kind of combo. Safety wise, they're way to bright to be shining at on coming traffic and they'd also get too hot. With HID's in low beams, you'll rarely need to use highs unless your on the backroads, but most of us go with something like Silverstar Ultra's.

I run the same style Gen III headlights. I had them with Halo's, which you can't really see during the day but they look great at night. Now I run the same thing with CCFL's which are bright enough to be seen during the day.

Re: 01Grand finally gets HIDs and projectors!

HIDs also require a few seconds to warm up, a lot of time you just need the high beams for a few seconds so they wouldn't be at full brightness when needed. HIDs are also more sensitive to many on/off cycles compared to halogens and will suffer from a reduced lifespan.
