Re: aftermarket Headlight LED re-do

well took some time to finish up the lamps over the holiday weekend. removed the reflectors and color matched them to the rest of the inner housing, shot them in satin black and then layed a flat clear over the top, perfect match. I have to say i am VERY VERY happy with the hyper white LED install over the blue factory, such a clean clean color and looks way better! Plus i did them right so i am not goign to have to worry about them failing after 30 miles this time like the shitty stock ones did

get everything soldered and wrapped up

why i had them open i popped in a 6k HID set up

then back in the oven to seal them back up!

installed

HID on

Re: aftermarket Headlight LED re-do

VERY nicely done! I love to see neat wiring like that. Shows that you took your time and did it right. Looks awesome.

I'll be re-opening mine in the spring. I've got some stress cracks in one of the corners (on the lens), and what appears to be some clearcoat chipping. I've got a spare set of lenses in the attic, so when the bad weather leaves, I'll be re-opening and swapping out the clear lens, and the reflector on the side. I have a carbon-fiber wrapped on in there that is getting exchanged for one that's been carbon-fiber dipped to match the grille. Can't wait for winter to be friggin over....

Re: aftermarket Headlight LED re-do

Looks awesome man. I broke one of the mounting tabs on my passenger headlight and the manufacturer will not replace them so im looking at just getting new ones.

Re: aftermarket Headlight LED re-do

TJ, when you get in there i HIGHLY sugest HYPER white led's i got a huge pack of them from china on ebay for like $7 with resisters, we use them all the time in the shop... the difference between these and your regular radio shack white is night and day... really dig the idea of dipping them... i was orgninally going to do some airbursh work inside of the lamp but the wife told me that the LED's are Rice enough not to go nuts hahahaha i think color matching the reflector inside shows i was in there... great sugestion from a guy on here as well!

beast, how bad is the tab, what tab is it? you can always lay some glass over it after you scuff it and then reshape a new one... much better option than replacement.

If my CCFL rings ever die, I'll probably do exactly what you did for lighting up the ring. I've had very good luck with LED's from VLED. Very high quality stuff. All the bulbs in mine are actually replaceable...the headlamps you have are a little different along the bottom than the ones I've got. They look SOOOOOOOOO much better without that friggin Halloween decoration of a reflector on the side though

Yeah dude...I don't know about you, but I can't stand that orange. I'm sure someone on here will chime in about my deep-seeded hatred for "amber" lenses...heheheh.

I actually sent a set of amber lenses to get carbon-fiber dipped to JNL Hydrographics. They will eventually replace the ones I have in now, which are 3M vinyl wrapped. That will wait until the spring though.

@JRK: but honestly, great looking Jeep! I agree with Tony that you should do something with the orange-amber since you've already got the lights open.
