Exclamation Gen 3 Projector Headlights - Installation Question

Okay, so started installing my new headlights this evening and noticed something when I took the old ones out...

There is some big electrical box sticking to the OEM lights (for the electric vertical beam adjustment?). I can not find a way to get this on the new ones. Pics below:

Also, the headlight adjustment screw, how the heck do you go about adjusting these when they are installed since the long screw went into the electric box?

There is no room to fit anything in there to adjust it on the passenger side with the batt and PDC in the way. Drivers side may be less of a PITA.

Any help from owners of these lights would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: Gen 3 Projector Headlights - Installation Question

That kinda sucks that yours came with an electric adjuster, the only thing that I can think of is for you to open up the housing and switch the internal parts if you really want to use the electric adjuster.

For adjusting the new one if you choose not to swap, I recommend a long skinny flat head screw driver to turn the grooves once its installed. It is a tidious procedure thou so be patient with it.

Or, you can also get a longmetal wire that will fit the holes on the adjustment wheel and you can kinda pull it upwards or push downwards...

Or, just buy one of this.........

That electrical box looks like your daytime running lights (Maybe)? Can you take a picture of the front of the headlight for us?

Re: Gen 3 Projector Headlights - Installation Question

Hmm, so you guys don't have a little slider to the side of your steering wheel marked 0-3 so you can tilt the headlights down if you have extra weight in the back or are hauling something?

The box doesn't come out, you can pull it out a little and reveal a rubber boot, but there is no way that is going on the gen 3s.

Thanks for the info though, wanted to hear from people who have installed these things.

Oh, Paul, I don't have DRLs so the box is definetly for adjusting the beams down for hauling extra weight so your no dazzling other drivers.

Seems as if that thing should pull out. But if you say it doesn't then....

Re: Gen 3 Projector Headlights - Installation Question

Marty maybe you could pick up a cheap used set of US spec headlights to get the adjustment screw that pokes up through a hole in the core support. It looks like if you want to run projectors sadly your electric adjuster days are over. Man you export guys get all the cool stuff.

Re: Gen 3 Projector Headlights - Installation Question

The box will come out, you have to turn it like 45° and pull it out, but be careful, these things are known to break. How do i know that
I had the 3rd Gen Haloīs too, but there is no way, that you can switch the internals.

Re: Gen 3 Projector Headlights - Installation Question

And btw, you can adjust the 3rd Gen halo with a long phillips screwdriver from top of the headlight when they are installed, thatīs why they have the "zick-zack" on the round adjustment plate
