Question Hazy Headlight.

Notice I said "headlight". The headlight on the driver side is noticeble hazy compared to the passenger one. The passenger side headlight looks brand new.

The driver side headlight looks opaque but doesnt have yellowing to it...itz just hazed. I was wondering if anyone has any restoring tips on how I can salvage it. A new one is like $55 which is not a lot, but I can put it towards paying for the gas if I am able to restore this one . I'll post Pics when the sun comes up.

Re: Hazy Headlight.

I haven't restored my Jeep headlight (same thing for me right now) yet, but I did restore the headlights on my Mustang and my mom's Crown Vic.

On my mom's Crown Vic it was only haze on both headlights and no yellow color. I bought a $20 kit from Advanced Auto. It came with plastic polish and a drill attachment buffing wheel. You put the plastic polish on the buffing wheel and put it to the headlight. It cleaned both of her headlights up and they looked good for about 6 months before they hazed again.

My Mustang had TERRIBLE yellow oxidation on both headlights. I started with 1000 grit sandpaper and wetsanded. Then moved to 1500 and 2000 grit paper. Then I sprayed clear coat over them to prevent it from happening in the future. Then I sanded with 1500, 2000, and 2500 grit paper. Followed that up with buffing and then waxing a week later. They looked brand new and still do.

When I fix my Jeep headlights (going to do both for the heck of it), I'll just use the buffing compound and drill attachment to get them clear. Then I'll spray clear coat over them to keep them from hazing in the future.

lol, nice advertising. Tempting, but I'm iffy on buying used things because of the condition they might be in. I always buy new. So unless they look brand new, I'm probably not intrested. Are they OEM or are they aftermarket lights.

Re: Hazy Headlight.

Ha! I'm not much of a salesman am I....

They are stockers off my 04 Limited...and are in great shape with no yellowing, but if you're looking for new, you're looking for new.

If you are interested at all, PM me your e-mail and I'll send you some more pics.

Re: Hazy Headlight.

Completely clear...I've got more pictures for anyone that wants to PM me thier e-mail address.

They are probably as clear as they are because we don't get any friggin sun here in OH for like 9 months out of the year starting now.

All I meant was that I'm the same way sometimes and I totally get it. When I want something new, that's just what I want and I don't usually consider anything else. For instance...I don't buy used electronics or power tools. It's just a thing of mine...
