The slim ones I have seem to be built like tanks!

What are the differences between digital and non-digital?

I'm not trying to start a bash, lol, just wanted to know the difference.
Matty-you need to have both to see the difference in quality. Ask Tman if the Xentecs are waterproof. I had the regular ballast and I sold them to Irf. IMO......the things I listed are quality differences. No emi filter means terrible radio reception. Phillips makes the best hid bulbs in the industry and their glass is the best. Is a digital TV better than analog? Relay...if you buy another...how much more is that....$15-25 more. Why not spend $159 and get a complete kit that is high quality and world class?

Im not saying the xentecs are horrible. Tony is a great guy and completely backs up his product. But the reason for that is he has too. Talk to Bslagle about how many componets he's replaced and they are still not working right. I get alot of pm's from mebers trying to figure out their hid problems...and I'm not gonna lie...most are xentecs. I have no problem with tony and like I said above...he is a great, cheaper alternative. But...you get what you pay for IMO.

Yeah I've never seen the older regular ballast. I'm guessing that's what Tman had too.

Feature. If the Xentecs had an emi filter that was inferior to the XD's then, yes, that would be a difference in quality.

I've read that a lot, so I don't doubt it. But if I asked a random person off the side of the road to tell me what light output they thought was better, a Phillps bulb or a non-phillips bulb in identical housings, what do you think they would say.... yeah, they'd be like 'um they both look the same to me.'

Without a doubt... but we aren't comparing TV's

One relay works for me (and all the others)... why have two?

I got two slim ballast 5k kits and a relay for $110 shipped. The XD slim ballast kits are $199, correct?

So $400 + shipping vs $110 for a product that looks identical once installed... common sense.

Again, I may seem more stiff in my responses because I have had zero issues with my kit. No radio interference, no water issues, never have had a flicker. Mine work like OEM. I also took the time to pay carful attention to the installation of my wiring and ballasts; That can go a long way IMO.

Re: I like your hids i want them same ones

theres an argument for both sides...but untill youve had both in your hands......its one sided for you. I have no reason to push the XD products. I dont work for them, own stock in the company or even know the owner personally. Ive never spoken to Steve personally. But if someone asks which is better...Im gonna give my opinion based on the facts that I know.

Also has anyone compared the two side by side...do you know for a fact they look the same and have the same output? I know a few members had different color output on the same vehicle from Xentec kits on fogs and headlights. One side was a different color from the other.
heres the specs from XD---

Patented digital ballasts for precise color illumination * Japanese quality and craftsmanship * CE,UL & E4 certified OEM grade Xenon HID components * Rubber Injected waterproof/shockproof ballasts * Laser aligned bulbs to ensure optically correct beam patterns * Unique dual relay harness design * Full replacement warranty * ROHS, CE,UL & E4 certified OEM grade Xenon HID components * Double tubed Philips Quartz Anti-UV bulbs

The xtremes are not slim....the Volt kit is slim. The price for JG is $159 and $99 for the XD Xtreme and the Volt.

two relays means if one relay goes bad...both headlamps dont go out. Or if one fuse goes bad...you still have one lamp to get ya home.

digital vs non-digital-come on Matt. I used the TV as an example.......

dual layer laser aligned, anti uv coated phillips glass vs who knows on the xentecs

like I said before....XD Xtremes are made for XD and XD only. I have no idea on the xentecs...but I have seen tony mention they had different makers of the componets from time to time and have changed vendors. Most recently the slim ballasts. One worked bad when he tried them so they found another supplier. Would you buy a Jeep if one month it was made by Chevy and the next month Kia?

Re: I like your hids i want them same ones

Man, I miss some of the greatest threads on here!!

So, I will say a few things, because by all means I do not want this to turn in to a bash session. Xenon Depot sells a phenominal product, hands down nothing to balk at.

Are the Xentecs a little more economical, yes they are.

I will say that I will stand behind them being 100% waterproof, included all harnesses. I can testify to that because my Hella Rallye 4000s on my off road vehicle have been mounted on my bumper for four years, and never once had an issues (Including not only heavy off road use, but plenty of water, and water crossings).

Have I had issues with some of the kits, yes, but as Scott mentioned, I will back it up as much as I absolutely need to to make my cutomers happy.

Do they EMI Filters, yes they do, but several have had radio interference, and I never denied that.

Now, with all that said, I commend Scott, because the reality is, there are several different kinds of clients....... take tires for example, not everyone runs a BFGoodrich or a Continental tire, some will say, I need this size, give me the best deal and maybe end up with a Nexxen, Nitto, or Hankook. Others will say, I need/want a BFGoodrich, because they have the best out there, and I refuse anything less. This includes paying a premium. The Nitto, Hankook and Nexxen may work good enough, or excellent, but for peace of mind, some people want nothing less than the BFG, or the continental. It is just a different type of clientel.

Now, that being said, I am pleased to announce that at Baja HID, we are working on partnering with a few different vendors, to bring either a Phillips conversion, or a McCuloch conversion soon.

I had the Xentecs on my Jeep for maybe 2-3 months. I was moving things around to get a better ground connection and while moving the ballasts water came out of a couple of the ballasts where the wires went into it. Not wanting to take any chances of electrical problems or worse yet a fire I took them out immediately!

One thing I noticed too about the bulbs, I had all 5k bulbs yet they all seemed to have a slightly different color to them. They didn't match as well as I expected they should. Not sure if it's quality of bulb or what, just something I noticed.

FYI - Scott the prices for the Xtreme kits start at 159. Unfortunately our kits (9005, 9006 and H10) are 199. Using the code they are 174.

Also, to elaborate on Tony's service, when I first got my kits like I mentioned I ordered all 5k kits. Somehow though I ended up with not all 5k bulbs. Tony was great about this and exchanged my bulbs with 5k bulbs. However, like I said above they still didn't match completely.

Just waiting for Mario! Going to take the Jeep down some Saturday and get'em in.

Gotta order me some new fogs too...and maybe a kit for my reverse lights.
