last one I swear... I need tow hooks!

sorry I realize this is my third new thread tonight and I'm uber annoying and you probably want to do this to me...

but my WJ has absolutely no tow hooks. nothing. it doesn't have a towing package so I can't use the hitch like I did on my WK. nothing on the front either. I occasionally find myself in unpaved areas and I would like to know if there are any OEM options for tow hooks that don't involve any welding or insane amounts of work to install? both front and rear would be nice.

thanks, I'll shut up now!

Yes, the stock front tow hooks do not require welding. They bolt into the subframe behind the front bumper.

When I got my Jeep I was in the same position as you. I happened to find someone selling the stock tow hooks for $25. If you use them, I've heard it's the same mounting location as a grill guard (so you have to choose one or the other). I also have my eye on a rear towing hitch. I don't ever plan on using the Jeep to tow (honestly, there's not enough power with the I6) but it's a nice spot for a winch to attach or a "tow loop". Not sure what the actual name is of what I'm calling a "tow loop" but it's a it's a U-shaped loop that attaches to the receiver.

Re: last one I swear... I need tow hooks!

if you look around can get used chrome tow hooks for $75 shipped and the black one for about $65 shipped. or buy them new http://www.justforjeeps.com/towhooks.htmlor the rusty version new

this guy http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f310/...flaps-1123629/has teh rear tow hook with everything for sale at a good prices

all the jeep addons are all bolt on really.

i put used chrome ones on my front and since i have a hitch in the rear i bought a hitch d-ring.

for the rear tow hook i will say that they stooped making them for a odd reason and know one said why. some said was due to accident or the rope falling off easy. hit up your local junk yards and see if you can get a used hitched

i used to tow this trailer with the quad, and this trailer with over 3k pounds of scrap every other weekend.

but yeah with the V8 power now, i wont get a Grand with a stock I6

and tow hooks for the WJ are a lot easier to find than the ones for my ZJ... ebay, craigslist.. they all bolt to your frame rails behind the bummper. and there was a person on ebay selling brush guards that mounted differently so you didnt have to remove the hooks. dont know if he still is tho.

You can haul things but I would put 3k pounds to much for where I'm at. I would come to a hill and the motor would just explode.

I haul a Mastercraft ski boat and pontoon boat. A bigger engine is needed for that. But the I6 can haul smaller loads, but I personally wouldn't do it b/c there isn't any power.
