ok i was wanting to know if anyone had the LED s in a 1999 jeep grand cherokee and if so what are the numbers for each light.I want to replace all the interior lights. If you have a site and can give me the light bulb numbers for the LED that would be a great help .Thanks

Hey man I don't have a 1999 however this site may help SuperBrightLEDs. Just select the "vehicle" tab and input the Year, Make, Model and Submodel of your car and the site will give you a list of compatible LEDs for different sections of you car as well as their part number. If the lights there are too pricey just then just search for the LED with the correct part number on EBay, always good prices there. Hope that helps

SuperbrightLEDs is a great site, I went through them when I did my interior in my '01 JGC. Just make sure you check to see what bulb type you got for whatever you plan on replacing, plug and play or soldered type.

Led Lighting guide
LEDs have several advantages over conventional incandescent lamps. For one thing, they don't have filament that will burn out, so they last much longer. The main advantage is efficiency; they consume much less power. Also LED lights are brighter than incandescent lights, and come in several colors. Jeep uses several different bulbs for lighting, however they can be grouped into a few different bulbs as seen in the chart below. Notice one bulb can cover several different bulb numbers used by Jeep.

Below I created a list converting incandescent bulbs to LED. You can find bulbs from several online retailers including:
www.Superbrightleds.com www.Amazon.com
www.EBay.com www.Wish.com
www.Walmart.com Automotive Household Truck Trailer RV Lighting Led Light Bulbs
To name a few. You can also find replacements at local retailers as well! For long life quality replacements are key.
On the next pages you will find my bulb conversion charts.

In some areas LED exterior bulbs are not legal! Please refer to your local laws! Not all LED bulbs are equal. Sylvania are considered the best. As technology grows LED headlights grow better and better. Today LED headlights are brighter than halogen bulbs, but not as bright as HID.

Here are a few examples of LED light assemblies sold to make your light swap easier. These light assemblies look great and can dramatically change the look of your vehicle! The headlight assemblies feature projector light housings which can handle brighter lights with less diffusion then stock housings.

Notes:
Note A. LED bulbs MUST soldered to the motherboard!
Note B. Bulbs must be transferred to the original bulb housings or T-4 bulbs can be soldered in instead of buying more bulbs.
Note C. Wiring in an 12” LED strip and sliding it into the shifter assy. is far easier than replacing the light.
Note D. Requires a resistor wired in line or an LED flasher relay to prevent “hyper” flash!
Note E. Some vehicles use white light bulbs in the headlight housing.
Note F. There are many different light choices available based on wattage, brightness, color that you choose.
Note G. White faced dash clusters use an electroluminescent flimsy panel
Instead of bulbs. There’s no known replacement at this point.

Load Resistors:

LED bulbs may cause some newer vehicles to indicate a bulb is burnt out, or hyper flash in turn signals (because of their low power consumption). This can be remedied with load resistors to simulate a filament bulb load. One way to test this is to pull out one of your bulbs, if you get a bulb out warning you will need load resistors. Some owners opt to ignore this problem when replacing all of their interior lights with LED's. Without a load resistor your LED's never really shut off and will stay on very dimly. While some owners could care less, if you have an attention to detail or want to properly do your setup, a lot of owners mount a load resistor inside and above their rear cargo light.

Thank you for the useful info Bettico!

As you mentioned, LED bulbs may cause hyper-flash (where the signal bulbs and dashboard indicator rapidly flash).

(My 2000 GC (WJ) does this but it's because the left rear turn signal is currently not lighting. It will work for a month or three then stop working for a period of time. That may be a topic for a different posting.)

I haven't totally researched it but the flasher is basically a capacitor circuit. Capacitors hold charge and the charge builds up by current flowing into it. Flasher circuits get to a certain charge and then discharge and the discharge is what causes the signal bulbs to light.

The reason the hyper-flash happens is because a non-working bulb or an LED bulb allows the flasher to charge more rapidly and then discharge (lighting the bulbs that work) and the cycle repeats.

So putting in a resistor will restore the normal flashing but at a cost of the resistor consuming the current which the non-LED bulbs would normally be using so you aren't saving on electricity (the alternator works just as hard) but you still have the advantage of your LED bulbs lasting longer (and being brighter and you can pick different colors I guess).

The best way is to get the LED flasher which does save on electricity - and if you are broken down and have to use your emergency flashers they will work for a longer period of time without draining the battery.

Now, who knows where I can get an LED flasher for a 2000 GC?
