Re: New fogs??

Thanks for the warm welcome!! I have missed being around!!

Been working a lot honestly.....

Here you go, get a good laugh in at my expense....

4 months ago - I was backing up with a LARGE landscape trailer (moving crap) and while backing up managed to mash in my rear quarter panel and jack up my bumper too while the trailer basically jack knifed on me.... So bam - instantly ugly ride with this huge dent and scratched up rear bumper. Got a few quotes around 1200 to repair but don't have the extra gingle in my pocket to make all that happen and I have a 1k insurance deductible so it was hardly worth the effort... So i just accepted the fact that i was a crappy driver with a trailer, my jeep was ugly and my life now instantly sucked.

Fast forward 2 weeks for that incident and many depressive cases of beer later and sleepless nights, I managed to get in a minor traffic accident that made my jeep super duper ugly (now i have a mangled rear bumper, mangled front bumper and a huge dent)! then i spiraled down into a deep depression for the month or more than coughed up the green to have the insurance repair done. Also had the same shop quote me on a paint job and fixing the "pre-existing" damage which only cost me 1400 (fixed dent, bumper and a entire paint job). Which half of my separated parents gave me $$$ for during Xmas and the other half I got turned up side down and pockets ran through for....

Fast forward to right now.... Back on the internet with a jeep that is "presentable" and driving like a old granny keeping it safe... parking far away from other drivers in parking lots and malicious as ever with it Gave the jeep its first wash with a new micro fiber hand rag this past weekend (even though it was 40's out, LOL)....

Just recently got my "jeep projects box" back out and found these fogs i bought, which are not made to take HID lights. So making a full circle - those FOGS you are pointing me to that XEXON DEPOT has are circular FOGS for the 04 WJ, that are made to take HID's?

I did get these....
http://www.kbcarstuff.com
http://www.kbcarstuff.com/04-08-Jeep...pgkee04hwj.htm

They already have a propriety bulb installed and after removing his bulb (which looks like a junky halogen bulb or somehting) you can't easily install an HID bulb (not plug and play anyway)... maybe i am missing something? I am expecting to install HID lights similar to my low beams in my fogs.....

/end laughing at me now please.

Re: New fogs??

@GrantB: I feel more bad for you about that situation than to laugh at it lol.

Why can't your fogs take HID? Heat problem?

I thought a lot of owner's on here ran HID in that kind of fog, From looking at those, isn't the bulb # H3?

Even if you bought those projector fogs your light output would be less than stellar. Have you heard of Blazer projector fogs? They have a relatively wide, uniform and intense beam as TRS puts it and they are easy to mount and very small. They're one of the most popular projector fogs that deliver good performance at a cheap price and they come OEM on some vehicles. Some user's experience a problem with the Blazer's where normally the cut-off is supposed to be a flat cutoff line but bows near the ends looking something like this \____/

Here's some output pics:

More examples:

You can see the bowing beam in this pic:

Re: New fogs??

I will check the bulbs when i get home....

I think, based on previous emails with Xexon Depot I found from 1 year ago this week, LOL.

What i have gathered after re-reading old emails is this...

Use these fogs, use these bulbs (not HID bulbs)
Fog Lights
http://www.kbcarstuff.com/SearchResu...x=0&Search.y=0

OR you can buy a conversion kit ($119.00)....
Anyone have/use this before?

If you want to add an HID kit to the Fog Lights this can definitely be done, you would just need to get an HID conversion kit in the color temperature you want.

(not sure what this conversion kit is/does -

Re: New fogs??

Whatever bulb # it is then whatever HID kit you want to use. Just because a seller offers fog lights and suggests using his/her kit doesn't mean that's the only one, that's just a marketing ploy lol.

I would imagine that the conversion kit is just like any other HID kit in that it converts your Halogen system to one that is capable of running HID capsules
(I'm sure you knew all of that well before hand)

I know I've read that several users on here have had good experiences running Xenon Depot's Xtreme Digital but I've never used any of their products and not to mention the Extreme Digital is pretty damn expensive. No matter how high of quality seller's claim their kits are, aftermarket is still aftermarket (Some higher quality than others), and nothing beats OEM.

Re: New fogs??

Is there any reason why you can't use the stock fogs with HID kit?
Recently purchased Relays and 6K HID kits from another fellow Jeepie and have pulled out the original fogs to complete the change to H10's.
Still trying to figure out where to mount the ballets though.....lol

My intentions is to use the fogs to boast my lows as fog is much the same as snow in the tropics (looks cold and wet in a picture).
Still trying to get around the law here. Apparently as long as the HID's have a separate switch then I can technically use them.
If only they weren't so anal about HID's I'd have lows to glow.

Still waiting on the pre Xmas orders with my HIR's and LED bulbs to arrive......

I think the circle fogs that were redesigned with the 2004 model year are a little less glaring than the older square/oval fogs
