Re: rack/lights/rock rails

imaguy3 since you have a rack mounted already(Tony please don't mount the)do you think I could eliminate the crossbars and mount it directly to the side rails somehow? I'd like to try that and get it nice and flush.

you could... on some of the other forums a couple guys have done that. Seeing as it wasn't designed to mount that way, I didn't do it.

One guy set his rack on the side rails, then drilled holes into the side rails and used a "J" hook, hooked the "J" to the rack, put the threaded part down through the hole and bolted it down that way...

Another guy made little aluminum brackets that fit into the side rails, and then he attached them to the rack.

I've been yelled at once for posting links to the "other" forums... so that's why I'm not putting them up

Hey, if it's relevant to the discussion then why not?

As long as you give credit where credit is due

Yeah I don't know who was bitching but that seems pretty lame. All you're doing is posting a link to info somebody needs to know that isn't available here. I do it all the time. But then again I don't really care if I get yelled at.

well alright then...

Here's a thread I found on Jeepforum where the guy made the brackets...

post #2 http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f310/...-have-1305628/

here's one where he used leftover yakima crossrails and made own mounts... http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f67/r...hread-1077002/

Post #7 details a similar idea as above, but uses chain link fence "top rails" http://www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums...highlight=rack

and here's the thread on jeepsunlimited where the guy used the hooks..
