I bought a 2000 grand cherokee several months back that had a bad engine, got the engine out and rebuilt it and got it back up and running a few weeks ago. Besides a slightly rough idle it runs and drives out pretty good. Trying to get it ready to find it a new home but the passenger side trim panel is broken off and gone. Guess the previous owner thought it just popped off like some of them do but it actually bolts on. The trim piece is discontinued from the dealer but I found one on ebay and decided to replace it since it looks so bad without it. Was thinking i could maybe get to the bolts by removing the glove box but nope. The whole dash has to come out and apart to get to the trim panel bolts. So I started taking crap off and finally got the dash out and got to the trim panel bolts, what a mess!! At least when my new piece comes in I will just bolt it in and start putting it back together. Got a few blown dash bulbs that i'm going to replace and do some cleaning while it's all apart too......
Got my new trim piece in earlier this week and got it installed into the dash and got the dash all screwed back together. Had some stuff come in yesterday for my old charger so I worked on that yesterday evening, got home today and started putting the dash back into the jeep. It's really a two man job feeding the dash back into the jeep but I managed to get it back in by myself. Once I got it lined up and back into place and a few bolts in and it really went good from there. I started on it about 4:30 and had most of it back in by 6:30. I still have to put the console back in and the glove box but that's about it. It got dark on me so I decided to get it finished up tomorrow hopefully.
I got it all back in and looking good now, it takes the little #74 bulbs and I only had one that was blown in the instrument panel so that wasn't bad at all. I also replaced a few of the bulbs for the heat and a/c controls that were blown too. Done alot of cleaning while I had the dash and console out so it isn't so nasty now.
