2) As GR33N D3M0N mentioned, most people should know that installing an HID kit in the high-beam application is another god-awful idea. (I like the people that try to justify this one lol) Now if you were running a quad Bi-Xenon set-up that would be understandable.

3) As for installing Silverstar Ultra's in that location, haven't really heard nor seen anyone do that, But it would be interestin

4) Does any sufficient lighting exist at this boat dock/ramp or is it like a private one?
I frequent many different boat launches some pitch black dark others with some light. I think I will try installing a 9005 silverstars and see how the output is. I think it would have to be brighter then any LED lights available for 3157 socket. It will be easy enough as I have extra 9005 sockets with pig tails wire on them already.

Re: Reverse light mods

if you Google 3157 led get a bunch of options from $12 shipped up.

also they make magnetic light that you can pop on the hood and plug into the cigarette lighter

Re: Reverse light mods

I put HID's in my reverse over a year ago, except for a bad ballast that I replaced they still work fine. It's not hard to do at all and I LOVE the difference.

I can justify it because I have a 60ft, unlit driveway lined with trees that I often have to back down and the tint makes it difficult to see out the back. You don't have to like it, but I know I do.

Comparison shots with 5K

1) Well for your case I guess I can see it as a useful mod, it's a shame your drive-way lacks sufficient lighting enough to make you do this mod.

2) How long does an average pair in the reverse location last? I take it your probably still on your first kit still

3) Did you have to use a relay in this install?

4) Do you have to put it in reverse and just sit there while it warms up and then reverse?

5) Do you think the reverse HID mod would work in this taillight, it uses 1157 instead of 3157

@Sskafar: If you are interested in doing the HID reverse, Here's a guide on these forums if you haven't seen it yet

who the f'''uck are you to say something like that. who gives a rats ass what YOU consider a good mod or a dumb mod/

saying "ANY mod is the DUMBEST MOD you could do" is your F ''ucking opinion. just because YOU see no reason for it does not mean that it is a dumb mod. there is no DUMB mod if the person who installed it is happy.

i have one thing to say to people like you..........

Re: Reverse light mods

1. yeah, the whole driveway situation is not ideal, but that's not the only reason I did it, It helps immensely when pulling out of a tight parking spot on a dim lit street and with any other low light situation for that matter

2.Don't know the limit of the life yet. Yes flashing them every time you shift past reverse is not good for the bulbs and will shorten their life, but like I said, I've had them for over a year and the bulbs are still fine, the only issue I've run into was I had 1 bad ballast.

3. No relay necessary for me. All you have to do is cut the power wire to the lights, (purple w/ black stripe for me) and connect it to the power wire on the ballast, tap into the ground with the ground for the ballast, DO NOT cut it. Then instead of modifying the socket to accept a 9004 headlight bulb, I simple glued the bulb in place. Voila! But the link you posted is a much better idea than mine.

4. It takes no more than 3 seconds for the bulbs to sufficiently heat up, it's not an oven. If you can spare the extra 1-2 seconds then warm up time should be no concern.

5. I don't see why it wouldn't work. Bulb type didn't matter in my case.

Hope that helps

@robpp: You know what, I'll agree with you on the "there is no DUMB mod if the person who installed it is happy" I suppose I took it a little too far calling it "dumb", How about impractical? Sure it's a pretty cool mod and I'm not ripping on the guy for having them, more power to him but you could have been a little more polite with your rebuttal. Stay classy

@'00 UnLimited: Cool man, I might just have to go against my word and try it out, props on it working successfully for you.

Re: Reverse light mods

The mod seems practical to me. Much classier than two big ass fog lights mounted to the bumper like a redneck.

People do things that requires them to need more light back there. Then why else would people put fog lights back there.....

One thing a can suggest is wiring them to a switch. Find a way to have the OEM reverse bulbs and HIDs in the tails. Just hit the switch when you need them. A friend of mine did it with his Hummer 3.

Re: Reverse light mods

That idea has been thrown around before but no one has figured out quite how to do it yet, as far as I know. I would love to have these on a switch to get tailgaters to back off.

Re: Reverse light mods

@'00 UnLimited & lll2for3lll: A switch to turn those bad boys on at any give time would be awesome, definitely a good deterrent for tail-gaters

@lll2for3lll: How do you like the 6K V-LED for the interior? Do they give off a nice white or are they too blue?

can i ask, is it not possible to drive the jeep head first with the headlight down the road?
or is it a narrow road and cant rotate the jeep.

is the light scattered everywhere?
cant imagine the light being aim good in the tail light housing

lights on the back of a jeep look a bit redneck?
there good on the trails when you need light behind or camping. some setups look good and clean
