In anticipation of getting into some slick Georgia red clay tomorrow while I'm finally getting a chance to deer hunt, I slipped the winch on this afternoon. First I've put it on since I pulled out the BB, sagging stock UC coils and completely flat isolators.

Happy I went with the Old Man Emu Heavy Duty coils. Measurement from center of hub to fender barely went down 1/4" with the winch hanging on the front.

It used to pull so far that I couldn't turn more than about 75% without scrubbing...

Did you build the mount for that or buy it? If you bought it, do you have a link and/or price?

Been contemplating getting a winch for my Jeep but don't want to buy a new bumper. Either looking at mounting it like you have yours or trying to make something that would hide it behind the front bumper.

The receiver hitch is a Warn, purchased about three years ago off of Amazon.com for just under $200 to the door.

I wanted the Warn cradle, but they just want too much money for it. A friend has the Harbor Freight one and it's about 1/6 the price of the Warn but it's REALLY cheesy.

I ended up going with the ProMark cradle at $85, it's basically a clone of the Warn and uses the same 1/4" steel, same capacity.

Instead of going with the traditional press type quick connects (again Warn is like $70 for it) I just picked up twist lock quick connects from my local welding supply store for $10.

The only thing "fabricated" is that I drilled holes in the fairlead to mount a set of lights because I lose my home-made light bar when I slip the winch on.

I like having the hitch on the front, it's become my "swiss army knife", basically anything I can weld a square 2" pipe on and drill a pin hole through can go on the front of my WJ. To date, besides the winch I have the above mentioned light bar I made, a surf fishing rig which also doubles as a game hauler for the rear hitch when I use the Jeep instead of my truck deer or hog hunting (see my sig pic) and I have a clay thrower with a seat that also mounts in there. Still coming up with ideas, LOL...
