Trouble removing front Grille, and Headlight assemblies

Hey guys, I was trying to remove the headlight assembly for my lights, and my grille today but they didn't seem to want to budge(could be possible I simply didn't apply enough force.. but I gave it my all )

For the grille I removed all the top bolts(one of them snapped ) and then removed all the bottom drills, the ones near the bumper. I'm not sure if the Grille is connected to the bumper or something.. if anyone has a video, guide, words of wisdom to help I'd appreciate it!

For removing my headlights.. I took out the bolt holding it in, but I couldn't yank it out, and instead I cracked a plastic hook behind it that holds onto the beam going across the front of the car.. figure I'll just glue it back later or something. I tried prying it with a crowbar, but I'm just a bit scared I'm going to damage something.. any tips, guides, or anything would help me out a lot! Thanks!

Re: Trouble removing front Grille, and Headlight assemblies

Sometimes, for headlights that have not been out ever, you really need to pull. I tend to put my thumb on the fender and my fingers on the edge of the lens and push with my thumb and pull with my other fingers. There are at least 2 or 3 ball studs that fit into sockets behind the fixture...it's ususally in there pretty good. Once out, spray those ball sockets with some lithium grease or something so it's not such a headache next time.

Re: Trouble removing front Grille, and Headlight assemblies

My headlamps were super tight and in the end resorted to using a 30cm flatblade screw driver and used it as a tire lever. Ended up pulling the headlamp out with no damage but all the clips come out with it. After removing the clips off the balls and fitting them back to the headlamp surround I greased those little balls up with some bearing grease. Hopefully next time it will be straight forward.

Re: Trouble removing front Grille, and Headlight assemblies

Hi
I have a 2000 GC WJ and wish to change to a Chrome grill. I have it ready but if I simply cut the original part in situ, are there any fittings / wires etc behind that would be damaged? It is a UK vehicle.
