Re: WJ Concept Carbon Fiber interest. Rendering Release!

To be honest I think you need to stay away from a design like the first 4. It just seems to give a WJ a bull nose effect. Way too fat in the front. Stick with a design like 5 & 6 that keeps it narrow across the grill. 3 & 4 might look good if you move the start of the hump back about a foot.

I like #4 the most. I think that would look pretty awesome.

Re: WJ Concept Carbon Fiber interest. Rendering Release!

Have you contacted anyone on pricing as a ballpark? The last WJ hood i found aftermarket was around $1000 all fiberglass with reinforced steel in it. Sorry for the poopy pic but that's the hood that's $1000.

Re: WJ Concept Carbon Fiber interest. Rendering Release!

I like them all! Just the mention of a new hood is exciting.

But in all seriousness:

1 & 2:They're not my favorite but I would still slap them on.

3: I like the all black one but I think the current positioning of the bump gives the Jeep too much of a bulking head or bull-nose look. Maybe moving it back some would help.

4, 5, &6: There's a reason that these one's are actually on a WK in my opinion. They look good. I personally like 4 & 6 the most out of these three.

My top 3 are (as of right now): 4-6-3.

Re: WJ Concept Carbon Fiber interest. Rendering Release!

"first two are copy catting off the '07, '08 GT500 knight rider edition" is actually very wrong. If you want to say it's "copy catting" off the Mustang, then at least go back to cars like the 1968 Shelby Mustang GT350 (I know that and I'm not even a Mustang owner lol) and K.I.T. wasn't even a Mustang, he was a 1982 Trans Am (the newer Knight Rider show doesn't count, they used a Rustang), so that GT500 Knight Rider Edition was also trying to copy off the Trans Am.

Re: WJ Concept Carbon Fiber interest. Rendering Release!

Cool guys once again for the open discussion. Yes these features can be modded from what we are showing pics of. I would like to change these features so they aren't identical to what is shown. I think about 650 maybe group buy price before options that would be the stock like style and probably only 100 more for the the upgraded one(more time involved in the layup). I would like to work something out for shipping to help everyone out. 4 and 6 I think flow the best on the our body style.

lol I would never pay $1000 bucks for a fiberglass hood. For the gb I am trying to price these (materials and time). No mark up really. This is to benefit all of us.

Options would be heat shielding that replaces the OEM Hood Mat. This would be placed in the flat sections where the skeleton structure is. This is high grade heat shielding. 3M makes it 2 options on this are GOLD or Chrome. Both make for a good show and high tech look under the hood!

WASP 3k carbon fiber weave. This is a unquie carbon patter that is like a 3D honeycomb weave. It is quite pricey but only 1top layer would be replace from that of the normal 3k 2x2 twill pattern (on the showing layer.) This would not change the construction of the hood This is like a Hexagon weave! Stand out from the rest with a neat looking hood to add to it.

Clear coating or matte dull clear coating options as well.

Because our hood is wider than a roll of carbon fiber a seam/butt joint will be made on the top showing layer the weave will form a V pointing toward the front of the hood.(this will be done on all hoods that don't want the WASP Hexagon pattern So the weave won't be going all one direction. By doing a V with 2 piece of carbon for the first layer it creates a different look. As well with less weave distortion. Depending if people leave it or paint the whole thing or paint parts of the hood it will look good either way.
