Hey everyone my name is Shawn. I just wanted to let everyone know that with the efforts of myself and fellow JeepGarage member Chris (GreenWithEnvy801) we are going to design and produce some custom Carbon Fiber hoods for all you WJ owners as well as some other parts in the near future. But before we start building we would like your input. These hoods that we will be producing will be based off of what you as a whole on what you want or are looking for in a aftermarket hood. We have done some research in to hood designs that we could offer as well as some designs of our own. There will be a stock hood design minus the grooved section in the center of the hood. We would love to hear any and all feedback. They will be built with nothing but the best and no corners cut so you will have a long lasting quality product for as long as you own your Jeep. With that in mind here are some of your hood selections…

Chris has taken on the challenge of doing the renderings here is what we came up with so far. Thank You Jeep Garage for your support and input.

On the WJ I've actually been trying to find an aftermarket hood like #2 (The center scoop support extending out looks better than #1's, and number 3 looks good too. Would they be functioning scoops? I think functioning hoods would draw y'all more people if the price ain't too bad.

Yes the non stock hood will be functional design in mind. The upgraded stock look may also take cues from the aggressive vented/ram air hood. Which may have some venting towards the rear to draw heat out of the engine bay. Also as said before no fiberglass will be used at all in this hood. These hoods will be built with a proper latching system and proper hard points for the mounting locations of hood and use with factory shocks. These will be as strong as factory but a fraction of the weight. In a few day I should have pricing with some options available. Chris and I will be working closely together in the next few weeks/months on this project to make it happen. I will be making 2 molds once people have narrowed down a choice. A working part or 2 will be produced to make sure there are no bugs in the system. Then full production will be a go ahead. It is my job to bring a nice quality product with out rushing through just to put one in production. Should be well worth the wait.

Thank You, Shawn Lane

Myself personally I really like 4 and 6 and would think the lines would flow better and maybe blend better than the WK Jeep. I think a stock style with the middle filled in with a small rear vent cut out towards rear would look nice and stealthy looking. And build the existing center raised area up no more than a 1/4 or so. Thanks again for the input the more the better. I would like to keep the talk up for a month to really nail down 2 styles 1 stock and one"upgraded" hood that everyone likes. I would like to make a hood unique as possible but make it flow as if the upgraded hood was a factory upgrade. As well with function on both hood styles.

For starts I think a GB should consist of 10 orders. So for example if 5 of each style would be fine or a mix and match. Also Chris and I are trying to do FREE shipping deal with the hoods for the initial GB if there are more than 10 this will benefit everyone. I am almost done with price for each style + a few added options.

Once again guys thank you again, Chris and I will be keep tallies on your guys hood choices. Also Chris has a few pics of my jeep so he is going to photoshop render a stock hood with a filled in section. And post that up as well to make sure you guys like the stock style if considered replacing your current hood.

We are in talks and I am starting to do a mock up of a integrated carbon fiber "duck bill" rear hatch spoiler. This spoiler will have a new 3rd brake light built in as well as maintaining function control of the hatch and rear glass hatch. Some design and styling cues from the 2013 Jeeps rear hatch spoiler. Just more of continuing the body lines of the rear. Same with this product will probably get a group buy put together for the same time of release of these carbon fiber products for the Jeep.

To be honest I think you need to stay away from a design like the first 4. It just seems to give a WJ a bull nose effect. Way too fat in the front. Stick with a design like 5 & 6 that keeps it narrow across the grill. 3 & 4 might look good if you move the start of the hump back about a foot.

I like them all! Just the mention of a new hood is exciting. :D

But in all seriousness:

1 & 2:They're not my favorite but I would still slap them on.

3: I like the all black one but I think the current positioning of the bump gives the Jeep too much of a bulking head or bull-nose look. Maybe moving it back some would help.

4, 5, &6: There's a reason that these one's are actually on a WK in my opinion. They look good. I personally like 4 & 6 the most out of these three.

My top 3 are (as of right now): 4-6-3.

"first two are copy catting off the '07, '08 GT500 knight rider edition" is actually very wrong. If you want to say it's "copy catting" off the Mustang, then at least go back to cars like the 1968 Shelby Mustang GT350 (I know that and I'm not even a Mustang owner lol) and K.I.T. wasn't even a Mustang, he was a 1982 Trans Am (the newer Knight Rider show doesn't count, they used a Rustang), so that GT500 Knight Rider Edition was also trying to copy off the Trans Am.

Cool guys once again for the open discussion. Yes these features can be modded from what we are showing pics of. I would like to change these features so they aren't identical to what is shown. I think about 650 maybe group buy price before options that would be the stock like style and probably only 100 more for the the upgraded one(more time involved in the layup). I would like to work something out for shipping to help everyone out. 4 and 6 I think flow the best on the our body style.

lol I would never pay $1000 bucks for a fiberglass hood. For the gb I am trying to price these (materials and time). No mark up really. This is to benefit all of us.

Options would be heat shielding that replaces the OEM Hood Mat. This would be placed in the flat sections where the skeleton structure is. This is high grade heat shielding. 3M makes it 2 options on this are GOLD or Chrome. Both make for a good show and high tech look under the hood!

WASP 3k carbon fiber weave. This is a unquie carbon patter that is like a 3D honeycomb weave. It is quite pricey but only 1top layer would be replace from that of the normal 3k 2x2 twill pattern (on the showing layer.) This would not change the construction of the hood This is like a Hexagon weave! Stand out from the rest with a neat looking hood to add to it.

Clear coating or matte dull clear coating options as well.

Because our hood is wider than a roll of carbon fiber a seam/butt joint will be made on the top showing layer the weave will form a V pointing toward the front of the hood.(this will be done on all hoods that don't want the WASP Hexagon pattern So the weave won't be going all one direction. By doing a V with 2 piece of carbon for the first layer it creates a different look. As well with less weave distortion. Depending if people leave it or paint the whole thing or paint parts of the hood it will look good either way.
