And yes, if it would basically bend in easy that is kinda pointless to I guess. Hmmm...

so nothing is always as good as it seems, and it seems i tried my luck too many times with the rope on the bottom bar. My grill guard is still one piece, but the bar isn't as straight as it once was. got a call last night, buddy high-centered his tahoe on a small boulder. i got the boulder out of the way, but he had already dug himself deep enough that his rear axle was sitting in the dirt. bent my bar and tarnished my recovery record, guess its time to get some proper gear

Yeah, I have done the same with my old XJ. Saved it from a deer twice, but no good for recovery. This is why this is such a hard find because I really don't want to get an entirely new bumper...has to be a solution out there.

i know the thought might seem obvious, but i don't have tow hooks or an overland. is there something preventing you from getting the regular grill guard and just buying longer in order to keep the hooks?

Re: WJ Overland-is the a brush guard that allows you to keep the front tow hooks?

Lol. So far I simply cannot find a grill guard that lets me keep the front hooks. It seems that it is either one or the other. Not interested in aftermarket bumpers either, which makes the search a tough one.

The only ones I can find that do are push bars that don't even reach as high as the grille itself-which defeats the purpose of one in my mind.

However, if you do know of a brush guard or grille guard that lets me keep them I'm all ears.

I've seen a couple guys buy after market hooks and bolt them to bottom of grill guard and then weld them too,but if you do this i would recommend only doing straight pulls and not at an angle, wont be as strong as factory hook setup (I dont think) but they dont seem to have any problems with this setup so far.Years and years ago i did samething on my 77 chevy 4x4 pickup with no issues and abused them but that was a solid frame not a unibody
