2 Inch lift

Can someone please tell me if I can fit 245/70/17 tires on my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland with a 2 inch bds lift?? I have heard several different opinions: 1) with a V8 the front will sag; 2) the tires will rub; 3) get rusty's offroad 2.5inch lift and it will fit fine. Does anyone have an answer to this???

thank you

Re: 2 Inch lift

you should be fine since people run 245/65/17 on the stock hight and are good.

v8 and I6 do not have a big differences in weight so it will not sag more due to the v8

you can go up to 245/75/17 with no trimming at 2" so will be good at 2"

just get good shocks and make sure if you have a 247 that your spare tier matches the rest so you dont mess up the TC

Thank you for your input. Do you have any preference between the BDS 2 inch springs vs. Rusty's Offroad 2.5 inch spring lift???

I have the Rusty's kit and love it. Better spring rate plus 1/2" more lift and $70 cheaper.A lot of people dislike Rusty's but I've never had an issue with them. the WJ handles better now than before the lift

Re: 2 Inch lift

What size tire are you running with the Rusty's 2.5 inch lift? Did you go with the shocks that come with the kit?

Right now I'm still running the stock 235/65/17s because they were almost new before i did the lift.My plans this winter are new Nomad wheels from Summit and I think I'm going down to 16"so I can run a tire with more sidewall cause I like to wheel now & then. probably a 255/70/16 or as close to 31"as I can get. As far as 245/70/16s go we're running them on our stock 99 with no issues at all.

Re: 2 Inch lift

you can pop on 245/75/17 at 2.5"
bit the spare might not fit in the wheel well

if you have the money get the 2.5" and shocks

but if you springs are in good shape and you might want to go higher later on, order 2" spacers and shocks. so when you want to go higher you get 2" springs for a 4" lift. if you do this and are getting good shocks like the mx6 or bilstein order the 4" light ones so can reuse then later.

Thats a great little chart Straty. Maybe if you don't mind the Mod Squad could sticky that here or in the off road section

Re: 2 Inch lift

I just installed that BDS 2" lift kit on my wj. With the V8 it did sag pretty good so we put on a 1 3/4" daystar leveling kit to balance her out. I'm running 265/70/17's and it works out just fine. A little close in the wheel wells.....but it works
