Re: Bilstein shocks

For the rear shocks its not necessary to jack up the jeep. Just leave it as is and in max 10 min you do one side. (even with a beer in between taking the old one off and putting the new one on)
For the front it makes it a lot easier to jack it up and remove the wheels. When the front wheels are off, you can at the same time lubricate the upper knuckles of the suspension ball joints and the brake caliper sliding pins.

Re: Bilstein shocks

Thanks everyone for the info & encouragement. I just called my wife & told her I'll be putting on the shocks myself & she said good, she'll use the money I would've paid the mechanic & go shopping

Re: Bilstein shocks

Tell her you'll split it...
You may need some REALLY good vice grips for the fronts.

Re: Bilstein shocks

Who's got the best prices on the Bilstein 5100s ? Since I'm working 70 hrs a week for a few months I want to gather up some parts for the next layoff.

Re: Bilstein shocks

I got mine from Summit Racing...they usually have some of the best pricing, and are great to deal with. $75 a piece is what I paid for my HD's
