GC WJ LCA replacing oval bushing by round bushings

Hya,

i have the common problem with the oval bushings in my LCA: I'm not willing to buy new LCA only for the original oval bushings.

Thus i have the idea of modifying the LCA welding pipes in the oval bushing place to be able to insert the original round bushings.

I remenber once seeing this done by someone in Russia, but could not find the link anymore.

Did anyone did this? If yes, any help?

Thanks in advance,

Paulo

Re: GC WJ LCA replacing oval bushing by round bushings

Hi Paulo, why not replacing the oval bushings with new ones?

Re: GC WJ LCA replacing oval bushing by round bushings

Because all the aftermarket oval bushings i did find and replaced are too soft and they get shot in less than one year.

The original mopar round bushings i replaced almost two years ago are as new, and the oval ones i had to replace three times in the same period

Did you use Mopar oval bushings as well? I know that aftermarket stuff can be bad, i used Omix-ada bushings on the rear upper control arm and they lasted less then 1 month/1000 km. Then i bought Dorman bushings, which are on now for 2 years/45000km, an no problems still.

Mopar oval bushings can only be purchased with a new lca, and i will not pay around 500 bucks just to have their oval bushings with a lca.

If i would pay so much, i would buy the IRO lca which uses the original mopar round bushings.... which are cheaper to replace.

I don´t know if it is any good, but i just ordered from this company two track bar bushings. They also sell a set of 4 LCA bushings, see here: 4 Front Lower Control Arm Bushing for Jeep Grand Cherokee 99 04 | eBay

Re: GC WJ LCA replacing oval bushing by round bushings

Ola Frank,

Abs

Paulo
