How is this possible?

So... My friend Blaine and I were installing the Fat Bob's Garage 2.5" lift setup on my '04 Grand Cherokee today. As we pulled the front springs, I realized there was NO coil holder on the axle end of the spring. The Jeep had a 2" BB when I purchased it, which we were removing to put the FBG kit on. I didn't see any provision for the holder. What is the scoop with this? Should I get to engineering one? Thanks all.

Re: How is this possible?

There's no "coil holder" that holds the springs to the axle. However there should be an insulator between the spring and the perch... here's a link just to show what it looks like... it's 15 bucks on amazon... http://www.ebay.com/itm/RAYBESTOS-57...087#vi-content

BTW, you're from Canton Ohio? If so I grew up in Louisville before leaving that S-hole State! ;-)

Re: How is this possible?

Definitely have new isolators. Figured now was as good as time as any to replace them. However, my ZJ had coil "keepers" like piece of metal with a bolt through them to retain coil -2- spring plate contact if you were running "discoed"... Was just surprised to find none on my '04 dub. And this area is awesome if you have sleeping sickness, or lots of your parents money to keep you occupied. The "330" is doing alright.

Yeah WJs don't have keepers. The problem is with the top perch on them anyway. They're kinda locked on to the bottom but just sit on the top.If your shocks are too long the springs will come off up there so shock length is crucial or run limit straps.
