Need new shocks

I believe that I am in need of some new rear shocks on my 04 freedom edition. It has become real bouncy going down the road and when I looked under the vehicle tonight there is a oil/grease substance all over the one shock and rear brake. I have read a few post on here and I see everyone seems to like the Bilstien. Is there a certain Bilstien I should be looking for, such as a model number and where is a good place to get them? Can I get these at the local parts store? Thanks in advance.

Re: Need new shocks

For stock height Bilstein 4600. Its what I have. Nice compared to stock shocks.
BIL 24-029636
BIL 24-029643

I forget which number is for the front or rear.

Re: Need new shocks

Internet http://www.ajusa.com

They don't stock them so it can take a few weeks. Had mine in 3 actually. I wasn't in a hurry so it wasn't a bother.

Re: Need new shocks

Thats perfect! I will check it out. This is terrible to say, but not real sure if my Jeep is lifted. It sits pretty high, but it has taller tires on it, so that may be why its taller then the other GC in town. I just bought it not to long ago.

Re: Need new shocks

Bilstien HD's for stock height ride. I'd suggest getting all 4 and not just the rear. You're going to love these.

Summit Racing part numbers:
BSN-24-029636 - Fronts
BSN-24-029643 - Rears

Re: Need new shocks

Like TJXJWJ said, these are a fantastic upgrade from the stock shocks on the WJ. Definitely do all 4 at once since they are different from the original unit. What size tires are on it? I put slightly taller tires on mine so it sits slightly taller than stock height WJ's, I have had people ask if mine is lifted before.

Re: Need new shocks

Any idea how these compare to OME? I had OME on my XJ and they were awesome.

I had OME on my lifted ZJ, and I always thought they were too stiff. Decent off road, but not as nice on road. The bilsteins are great on the WJ, good road manners and handling, and responsive in the mild off roading I have done.

Re: Need new shocks

Exactly what Grand said...OME is hard to beat for an off-road rig. I had them on my XJ and loved them. The Bilstiens on this WJ are unmatched though....

Re: Need new shocks

Well I ended up getting a killer deal on some new Monroe sensa track, so thats what I went with. I can not believe what a difference these new shocks have made. I'm sure there are some that are better then these, but I'm still really happy with them. Thanks for all of the feed back though.
