Re: regear at what tire size

I looked online at all the tire specs for an 07 jk... its the 245/75 16... hope this isnt too confusing... these tires fit perfectly in the wheel well with like( l...l ) that much space when i turn (may be a little more)... will this put a strain on any steering or drivetrain components? i put the link at the bottom of this post if this is too confusing.

Regear when you put 33" on im running 3.73 gears and wanting 4.56 for a better crawl. You can run stock gears till you get biggervthan 32

Re: regear at what tire size

If you ever need to figure it out its

old tire size (in inches)/new tire size(in inches) x originial gears = new gear ratio

I have found, esp with a stick , that going up one size is beneficial

so if the formula above figures out to 3:73's then Go 4:10's You will be much happier.

also if you have overdrive , you can go one size up due to the tranny gearing

also consider future mods as well, example: My Lj , I went from 3:73 to 4:88 and ran 33's . reason being , I had plans to go to 35's or 37's . this would have put me right in the optimal rpm range for daily driving but would also give me great Offroad performance. I will try to find the chart and post it

Re: regear at what tire size

Just remember that regearing is an expensive pain in the ass... if you want to go bigger with the tires... wait to regear. If your happy where they are go for it... gears are expensive if you do it yourself.
More if a shop does it

X2 on this . It is also worth a consideration as to if you would want a locker , Limited slip , lunch box . etc. and dont cheap out , do it once and do it right. replace the bearings , shims and seals and all.
