Re: Replaced tie rod end and steering stabilzer

Awesome, looks like exactly what I did back in April! I dont think I posted anything about it though. I used the same stabilizer, that definitely helps the front end, but I bought Moog ends that came with zerks so I can regrease as needed.

I'm curious how your alignment comes out. When I did mine I was told the Jeep should have .1 degrees of toe, I was at 1 degree. Im glad the shop was only 5 miles away!

I tried to match it as close as possible but not really concerned about the toe, I was getting new tires the next day and the shop was 5 minutes away from my place.

But I did end up with the left tire 1.62 and right was 0.64, after new tires and alignment they are now set to 0.10 toe

Ah thats pretty good! The Jeep must be riding pretty sweet now with new tires and the tie rods/stabilizer

What kind and size tires did you get?

Re: Replaced tie rod end and steering stabilzer

It is actually, wasn't expecting the BIG difference on the handling, my steering wheel is actually straight now lol.....

I bought the All season Firestone Destination LE 245/70/16 to replace the stock one which was the same brand but different size - 225/75/16. I wanted a little wider tire than the originals.....it was 10 dollars more per tire, but I like how it looks now...

Those are the correct ones, and I paid $75.00 for the alignment

Good luck man!

Re: Replaced tie rod end and steering stabilzer

Great step by step demonstration. Thanks for posting. Are all Tie Rod Ends about the same? I like to go top of the line, but I'd be happy with better than stock. The JKS Tie Rod and Raybestos Tie Rod Ends look to be quality. Are they about the same as OEM or are they a little better?

Re: Replaced tie rod end and steering stabilzer

All 4 had different part numbers when I ordered them, so I assume they are all slightly different. When I did mine I bought all 4 from rockauto.com, and they were Moog brand. I like them because they seemed very heavy duty and came with grease fittings so they can be regreased, rather than the original "sealed" kind.

You realize the only thing on these vehicles that's adjusted is toe? After I replaced my tie rod ends and saw how easy it is to adjust it yourself, I was baffled.
