Shock Replacement/Upgrade

Looking for some advice. My 04 WJ limited is in need of some new shocks. It has the upcountry suspension with the upgrade gas shocks. I don't plan on doing a lift any time soon and don't do any extreme off roading...I know, boring! I want something that is comparable (ride wise) to stock. When I do a search for compatible shocks there aren't many. I know everyone says Bilstein, but I wasn't sure if that was overkill or worth the extra $$ for a daily driver. I have found the Monroe Reflex and the OE Sachs shocks. Just wondered if anyone has had experience with any of these and had some tips or suggestions.

Re: Shock Replacement/Upgrade

I put the Bilstein on my Laredo, not sure if Bilstein makes a version for the up country since spring is 1 inch higher.

I would recomend you buy new upper and lower moog spring rubbers and some Eastwood rust converter, rust encapsulator paint and chasis black epoxxy paint

I removed the shocks and springs and worn isolator rubbers, wire wheel the rust on the buckets and perches. then coated them with the converter and let dry overnight followed buy a coat of encapsulator and allowed that to dry overnight, then chasis black. sprayed some fluid film on the buckets then reassembled with new moog isolators. put new bilstein shocks on and everything is good.
