Re: Track Bar Needed.. Can Anyone Help?!

Jerry just get it from morris 4x4 it cost me a total of $60-70 and it's brand new with the bushings ... also use the coupon code by searching on google for it ... it's really easy to replace only two bolts holding the whole thing !!! no need to even take the tires off

Re: Track Bar Needed.. Can Anyone Help?!

If you have anything more than a very mild lift on the XJ a new track bar ain't going to cut it. If you are over 2" you will need an adjustable track bar to get the front axle centered under the Jeep. If it is not centered, you will be fighting suspension and steering issues until it is. Not too sure how familiar your guy is with the XJ suspension but the track bar is supposed to have a bend in it to avoid the axle gear housing.

Re: Track Bar Needed.. Can Anyone Help?!

my truck is lifted i believe 2" with the skyjacker lift kit (I honestly done know jack about lifting trucks and what is needed). My buddy who owns a car dealership sells tons of jeeps and has about 4 of them for himself.. some with crazy lift kits and some with the same lift kid i have. He mentioned to me he never had to change the track bar for the lift kit i have. BUT my GF did get into an accident when i got my truck, he believes its bent from the accident, making my allignment now totally off.

Re: Track Bar Needed.. Can Anyone Help?!

The track bar on the XJ does nothing more then center the axle under the Jeep. The only real alignment that can be done to an XJ is the toe and that is adjusted with the tie rod. As you lift a Cherokee, the inverted y of the tie rod and drag link will increase the toe in and that is what needs to be addressed with an alignment.

If you do not address the track bar with either a longer or adjustable one or by using a track bar drop (bar idea IMHO) you will eventually wear out the bushing, have issues with it popping and most likely get the thrill of bump steer if you let it go too long.

The suspension on Jeeps are not all the same and the pic above isn't even from a live axle front end. With a two inch lift on a Cherokee you definitely need an alignment but it can be done with the OEM adjustable tie rod. You also want to address the track bar issue too as eventually it will cause you major problems.
